The article quotes our CEO and Co-Founder Professor Sir Peter Donnelly discussing our Health Insights test, which is available through several healthcare providers, including Bupa. Health Insights UK is the first UKCA-marked and MHRA-registered product that combines genetic and clinical factors to predict an individual's risk of common diseases. The test currently includes heart disease, type 2 diabetes and prostate or breast cancer. Peter said, “These are diseases that cause the most sickness in our populations. They use 70 or 80 per cent of healthcare budgets, and they’re responsible for most of the premature mortality that we have. That’s a huge change.” Our test is based on polygenic risk scores (PRS), which use algorithms to combine information from millions of places in an individual's DNA to give a summary of their genetic susceptibility to a disease. With this information, people can make more informed decisions about their health, helping shift healthcare from reactive treatment to proactive prevention. The Medical Travel Company (TMTC) has raised €3.8 million in funding to scale its cross-border medical travel platform connecting UK patients with affordable, high-quality treatments in India. 💰 UK-based Hesta Health has launched with £2 million in pre-seed funding to build a healthcare platform focused on women’s health, starting with comprehensive postnatal support. The oversubscribed round was led by Eka Ventures, with participation from Blue Lion Capital L P, Ascension Ventures, Samos Investments, and angel investors. The company was co-founded by Dr Sujitha Selvarajah and Amanda Cupples.
