What you see in the screenshot are the real platforms openly advertising “invisible AI assistants” that help candidates ace technical interviews undetected. Candidates can now rely on hidden AI tools during coding assessments and live interviews. The fake wins the seat, while the real talent gets left out. The message is clear: As AI evolves, hiring vigilance must get better. One month back at OpusRS – here’s what I’m seeing in the JavaScript contract market. It’s been great to get stuck back in, and I’ve already noticed some clear trends across the UK JavaScript contract space. 🏢 Hybrid working is shifting. Fully remote roles are becoming less common, with more contracts now asking for 2–3 days a week in the office. Collaboration and team presence are making a comeback. 💬 Contractors who know how to add value and communicate clearly with clients are being consistently extended. It’s not just about technical ability—commercial awareness and soft skills are making a real difference. 📉 Rates have taken a hit compared to a few years ago, but demand is still strong for those who can hit the ground running. ⚙️ Next.js is gaining serious traction. Nvidia’s investing £11bn, and Microsoft’s putting in £22bn to expand AI infrastructure and build the UK’s most powerful supercomputer as part of a wider £30bn US-UK tech deal including Google, Salesforce and OpenAI. Really interesting piece from Anjli Raval in the Financial Times yesterday on the accelerating impact of AI on jobs, especially for junior-level white-collar positions.   As I shared with Anjli for that piece, while there will be exceptions in specific areas, the rise of AI may constrain the recovery in some junior roles. She also importantly notes that while AI is a factor, it’s important that we consider the wider story.   AI is not the sole driver of change here. Geopolitical and economic pressures, years of sluggish growth, and what some are calling the ‘Great Hesitation’, a period marked by uncertainty in hiring and investment decisions, have all contributed to a landscape where entry-level roles are increasingly vulnerable. AI is amplifying these existing pressures. If roles continue to disappear from the workforce, then we need to ask: what does this mean for the future talent pipeline? In sectors already facing skill shortages, failing to bring people in today means we won’t have the talent we need tomorrow. To tackle this, we need to rethink how we develop people, how we build talent pipelines, and how we value the human qualities that AI can’t replicate: creativity, emotional intelligence, and complex judgment.   Lean organisations might look good on paper, but resilience, innovation, and long-term success still depend on people. Microsoft is making a major investment in AI infrastructure in Norway! 💭 The tech giant has signed a $6.2 billion deal with Nscale and Aker ASA to rent AI compute capacity from a Norwegian data center, starting in 2026 and running for five years. Remarkably, the compute will be powered entirely by renewable energy, underscoring the growing link between AI growth and sustainability. 💚 The capacity appears to come from the same site announced earlier this year for OpenAI in Kvandal, which initially offers 230MW with potential expansion up to 520MW.
