Open banking was covered widely at this week's Labour Party Conference, with widespread recognition of its critical role in powering UK economic growth and innovation. A standout moment was our Policy Director, Luke Ryder joining a fintech panel alongside Luke Charters MP, TrueLayer’s Megan Coulson, Financial Conduct Authority's Sacha Sadan, and Startup Coalition’s Charlie Mercer. The discussion explored: ✅ The journey OBL is supporting with industry and regulators to secure a long-term framework for open banking; ✅ How we can accelerate progress towards Open Finance to unlock benefits for consumers, businesses and the wider economy; ✅ The growing collaboration across the ecosystem to make this vision a reality. We were also pleased to participate in Innovate Finance and EY’s roundtable on Tech’s Plan for Change, where open banking was highlighted as a prime example of UK-led innovation. Attendees welcomed the move towards a sustainable, long-term model that supports the full ecosystem and enables continued growth. PEAC Solutions UK has announced two senior appointments as it continues to expand its technology financing division in the UK. Paul Fletcher has joined the company as Channel Tech Manager, bringing more than 20 years of experience across IT and automotive leasing. In addition, Jordan Lisle has been appointed as Channel Tech Director, where he will lead PEAC Solutions’ newly established technology team. We’re really pleased to have gone live with a new service to support The Insolvency Service in recovering money for the benefit of creditors and the UK taxpayer. The contract was awarded through the Crown Commercial Service Debt Resolution Services (DRS) framework and is delivered by Sopra Steria Financial Services alongside our strategic partner, QUALCO UK. Craig Wilson, Managing Director of Private Sector at Sopra Steria, said: “By returning more money to the public purse we’re helping the Insolvency Service to continue its vital work supporting vulnerable employees and other companies in the wider ecosystem.” Georgina Maskell, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the Insolvency Service, said: “This new partnership will mean that the Insolvency Service can continue to support those in financial distress and optimise returns to creditors.
