In partnership with GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway), we’ve successfully upgraded 25 of our Class 717 Great Northern trains with the latest in-cab digital signalling software, European Train Control System (ETCS). Now operational on the Northern City Line between Finsbury Park and Moorgate, this upgrade means: ✅ Increased capacity for passengers ✅ Greater flexibility for services in high-traffic areas ✅ A more reliable, connected railway Our new ETCS Baseline 3, Release 2 software will connect trains to the trackside via GPRS, delivering faster, smarter communication and marking a major step towards a fully digital railway for the East Coast Digital Programme. 👏 Huge thanks to our partners at GTR and Network Rail for their support in delivering this milestone as we continue to #TransformMobilityForEveryone. People in Yorkshire deserve better than the creaking, unreliable rail network that we currently have.   That’s why we’re calling on government to back our ambitious vision for a railway that works for everyone.   To fully deliver our growth ambitions we must solve debilitating capacity and connectivity issues. We welcome this week’s historic decision at the Infrastructure and Transport Ministers’ Meeting to set a national digital train control technology pathway for the National Network for Interoperability, alongside reforms to speed up rolling stock approvals and align procurement – all aimed at improving productivity and efficiency in the sector. These steps go hand-in-hand – modernising and digitising the network, while streamlining rolling stock processes to reduce costs, cut delays and strengthen local manufacturing. In the non-urban rail environment, ARTC will work with other below rail operators, customers, governments, suppliers and industry to develop solutions that meet the needs of the national rail network, with a strong focus on regional and remote areas across Australia. 🚦 We’re delighted to share that Milton Keynes City Council has appointed TRL Software to deploy its Urban Traffic Control (UTC) system, powered by the world-renowned SCOOT® signal optimisation technology, across the city’s signal-controlled junctions. This marks an important step in the Council’s ambition to deliver a smarter, greener and more responsive transport system, closely aligned with the vision set out in its MK Futures 2050, the new City Plan and the developing Local Transport Plan 5. As Milton Keynes continues to grow, so too does the need for an intelligent and adaptive approach to transport. TRL’s UTC powered by SCOOT® will dynamically adjust traffic signals in real time to improve journey times, reduce congestion, cut emissions and better serve drivers, public transport, pedestrians and cyclists. Beyond today’s needs, the system will also provide a strong foundation for integrating emerging technologies such as connected and autonomous vehicles, ensuring the city’s transport network remains truly future-ready.
