This week marks the UK Pensions Awareness Week, and we will be highlighting personal pension journeys to help start the conversation about pensions. In a new joint podcast, we and the FCA explain why pension professionals should take proactive steps now to deliver guided retirement solutions aimed at helping savers make the right choices. In the podcast, Nike Trost, the FCA’s Head of Department - Asset Management and Pensions Policy, and Patrick Coyne, Interim Director of Pensions Reform at TPR, say the industry needs to develop a much deeper understanding of the diverse needs and profiles within their scheme membership to ensure savers make the right decisions at retirement. They call on the industry to innovate in the design and delivery of retirement income solutions tailored to different saver types. And they discuss how the FCA’s Targeted Support proposals – designed to allow firms to make specific recommendations for groups or cohorts of consumers around pensions and investments – and the Pension Schemes Bill plans for guided retirement solutions are "complimentary policies". Rob Yuille, our Head of Long-Term Savings Policy, has given evidence on the recent Pension Schemes Bill in Parliament. Speaking alongside Zoe Alexander from Pensions UK, Rob: 🔹 highlighted that mandating pension investment was unnecessary in light of industry voluntary initiatives, such as the Mansion House Accord 🔹 called for guardrails to ensure that the proposals on surplus extraction and superfunds aligned with savers’ interests and prevented gaming of the system 🔹 expressed support for Value for Money and outlined our proposed amendment to improve pension engagement.   We look forward to engaging with the Bill to ensure it protects ordinary savers and boosts economic growth. #TheABI #Insurance #LongTermSavings #Pensions #PensionSchemesBill

We’re teaming up with the Aviva Foundation to make money matters easier for people with a learning disability 💜 We have been awarded a £500,000 grant from the Aviva Foundation to launch a new financial education programme, in partnership with Dosh Financial Advocacy. Together, we’ll help people with a learning disability feel more confident managing money, from budgeting and banking to understanding entitlements and staying safe from scams. Over the next two years, we’ll co design training, run workshops, and create accessible resources to reach thousands across the UK.
