Founded in 2007 and headquartered in London, Calastone connects over 4,500 clients in 57 countries and territories, enabling greater market efficiency, automation and risk reduction for the investment industry. With the support of Carlyle during its ownership period, Calastone has delivered material growth and strategic diversification by expanding its international footprint, investing in and enhancing its product suite to address ETFs and digital investments through tokenisation, strengthening its sales leadership, and realising efficiency gains across the business. 📣 CMC Markets has successfully completed the private placement of a shareholding in the UK using distributed ledger technology (DLT) and marking a new phase in our digital strategy. Delivered by CMC CapX and powered by StrikeX, the proof-of-concept demonstrates how DLT can work within existing UK client-asset rules to safely move securities between investors. The trial combined traditional certificated shares with a digital token mirroring the issuer’s shareholder register. “This project is a significant step in our digital strategy,” said Laurence Booth, Global Head of Capital Markets at CMC Markets. “We’re embarking on a plan to tokenise securities and derivatives markets so investors can trade 24/7.
