✅ Consent granted for Dunoon overhead line rebuild We’re pleased to confirm that Scottish Ministers have granted Section 37 consent for our proposed 132kV overhead line rebuild between Dunoon and Loch Long, a vital upgrade to strengthen local electricity infrastructure and support Scotland’s clean power ambitions. We’re proud to announce we've signed a contract with The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited (TRIG) to deliver our RESolve Energy Management System (EMS) for a 100MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Spennymoor, County Durham. Developed by RES and currently under construction, this two-hour duration BESS will play a vital role in strengthening the UK’s electricity system - storing renewable energy when it’s abundant and releasing it when demand peaks. Through our growing Digital Solutions business, we'll provide software and integration services to make sure the project operates efficiently and reliably. Our RESolve platform is built on over a decade of energy storage expertise and is designed to maximise asset performance while supporting the wider grid. Alex Bamberger, VP of Digital Solutions at RES, said: “Batteries are essential for the future of our energy system, but they need the right technology behind them to perform at their best. Berwick Bank Wind Farm has received development consent from The Scottish Government, clearing the final major approval to progress this game-changing renewable energy project. We spoke with Paul Cooley Director of Offshore Wind at SSE Renewables, who highlighted the immense scale and national and global significance of Berwick Bank: 🔹At 4.1GW, it would become the largest offshore wind farm in the world if fully delivered, capable of powering over six million homes annually 🔹 It would be expected to over £8billion in economic value to the UK and create around 9,300 UK jobs at peak construction, including 4,650 in Scotland 🔹 It could boost Scotland’s operational renewable electricity capacity by nearly 25%, accelerating the journey to net zero by 2045 Paul described it as: “A fantastic achievement not just for SSE, but for Scotland – and for our collective effort to tackle climate change.”   Watch the video below to find out more.

EDF just confirmed that Heysham 1 and Hartlepool will run through March 2028, after clearing their graphite core inspections. That’s 1,000 jobs secured, four million homes powered, and less imported gas burned. All from assets many assumed were nearing the end. It’s a reminder of two truths about nuclear: Well-run plants age better than expected. With the right inspections and upgrades, safety and output can extend far beyond the original license. Every year matters. For the UK grid, one more year means cleaner electricity, less pressure on gas markets, and more time to bring new build and renewables online. Nuclear still delivers around 15% of UK power. Stretching the life of existing stations isn’t the whole solution, but it’s breathing space we can’t afford to waste. The bigger question is whether we use that time wisely, by planning and building the next generation now.

📢Centrica has this morning been confirmed as an investor in the Sizewell C nuclear power station in Suffolk. 📢 Nuclear is a crucial part of the energy mix. Once built, Sizewell C will provide vital energy security for the UK, generating affordable, zero carbon baseload electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years.🔌 Centrica will acquire a 15% stake in the project.
