Two formalized resources: Amir Likes Me and Complete Job Search Playbook Folks, all the time we are tinkering with new resources for Amir Satvat's Games Community. Sometimes what we add is brand new. In other cases, we have run extensive trials and, based on consistent and strong feedback, decide to formalize them. Today is one of those times. The first is Amir Likes Me. Once a month, you can let me know about a job search post that is at least partially for a role in games. I will add a supportive comment to help boost its visibility. Over the lifetime of our community, I have done about 200 of these. The feedback has been uniformly positive, so I am formalizing it as a resource. This is not a miracle fix, but it is one more way to get more eyes on your post and more connections. It is now on our homepage with a Google form for tracking. I am also adding statistics for this to our bi-weekly community updates so you can see the data on its impact. I will start the tracking at 200, per the data above. It is meant to be a short, printable document you can use to check off actions over any period of time and find new ideas you may not have tried, whether that is just one of them or all of them. There's a lot of advice about cover letters on LinkedIn, so here's one of mine that got me an interview at Disney 2 years ago. Here's what I did to make my CV and cover letter stand out from all the rest: ✅ 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗩. If you’re proud of it, make sure everyone in the process reads it. Make it clear what you’re applying for. ✅ 𝗔𝗱𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗿, it’s an easy to personalise. ✅ 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. Reach out to a few people in Talent, HR or Recruiting on LinkedIn, mention that you’ve applied, and attach your CV. A thoughtful follow-up message can make all the difference. I really hope this helps, sometimes the tiniest edge over other candidates is all you need.

Instead: ✅ Double-check the sender’s domain ✅ Reach out to me or Wargaming directly to verify   Job seekers are often the main target of these scams, so please stay cautious and spread the word. Another day, another acquisition. Tis the season of consolidation. Krafton acquires Last Epoch developer Eleventh Hour Games “Eleventh Hour Games is joining Krafton, the powerhouse behind PUBG, who shares our passion for the action ARPG genre and is ready to help fuel our efforts in raising Last Epoch to new heights,” - Judd Cobler Cobler noted Last Epoch is now played by “millions” but the studio must “aggressively expand” to realize its vision. Recent Krafton moves include acquiring Tango Gameworks and the Hi-Fi Rush franchise from Microsoft in 2024 and leading an $11.3 million investment into Eschatology Entertainment. In its 2024 fiscal report, Krafton vowed “aggressive” investment to secure a “big franchise IP.”

This is a powerful, data-backed validation of the 'More Than Games' philosophy from a global industry leader. asmodee, one of the world's largest tabletop publishers, has launched a new 'Asmodee Kids' brand, backed by compelling new research proving the significant cognitive and social benefits of board games for young people. The scientific studies found: A single game session can boost a teen's focus by 8%. Regular play was linked to a 17% boost in arithmetic skills. Behavioural issues in some children dropped by up to 34%. These findings offer a powerful endorsement of the work we are doing in Scotland with partners like Education Scotland for the #ScottishGamesFest, demonstrating that investing in #play is a direct investment in the core skills young people need to thrive. It's a crucial reminder that the power of games extends far beyond entertainment. Canada’s New Interactive Digital Media Rules, Why iGaming Should Pay Attention On March 1, 2024, Canada quietly introduced major policy changes under the Investment Canada Act (ICA) that could reshape the future of iGaming. These new rules expand the definition of Interactive Digital Media (IDM) to include online casino games, poker, esports betting, social casino, and other interactive platforms. That means iGaming is now firmly within Canada’s “cultural business” category, triggering much lower thresholds for foreign investment review and much higher scrutiny when foreign-controlled capital is involved. Why this matters now: Ontario’s iGaming market has exploded, $200B in wagers and an $8B industry in just three years. As the sector grows, the Government of Canada is signalling it wants more Canadian control, Canadian IP, and safeguards against “hostile” foreign influence. The decision for Borderlands 4 to launch without cross-save or cross-progression highlights a growing tension in the games industry: meeting modern player expectations for a seamless, platform-agnostic experience. According to Gearbox Entertainment, the ability to move progress between consoles and PC won't be available at release. While the studio notes it is a priority for the future, this move feels out of step with a landscape where players are accustomed to their games and progress following them across devices. The inclusion of cross-play is a welcome (and certainly for live games a necessary) feature, but the omission of cross-progression feels like a missed opportunity to fully embrace the "play anywhere" philosophy that is defining the current generation of gaming. Is launching without full cross-functionality a significant misstep in 2025, or is cross-play enough for a successful launch? I guess we'll see.
