Recently, our Supply Chain Engagement Director, Ashley Shorey-Mills, met with electrical, mechanical and building systems specialists, DPL Group Ltd. On arrival, Ashley was welcomed by Managing Director vincent langley, Associate Director Lewis Brown and M&E Estimating Manager Mark Jennings, who shared valuable insights into their day-to-day operations. With more than two decades of experience in the industry, DPL Group Ltd, established in 2001 and originally trading as DPL Solutions UK, has grown into a versatile engineering services provider based in Ipswich. The company delivers comprehensive design-and-build contract services, covering electrical and mechanical installations, renewable technologies, fire and security systems, facilities maintenance, air conditioning, heat pumps, refrigeration, and building/passive fire divisions. Their expertise spans a wide range of sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, public sector, industrial, hotels, leisure and renewable energy. During the visit, Ashley learned how DPL Group’s continuing work at Sizewell C, which began with smaller packages secured through Tier 1 contractors, has gradually expanded to include larger scopes of work. This progression reflects their consistent improvements in processes and performance, enabling them to secure multiple contracts, some worth millions of pounds. The company currently employs 14 apprentices, all of whom have gained on-site experience at Sizewell C and remains committed to broadening this impact by engaging additional local suppliers, thereby strengthening the regional supply chain. DPL Group Ltd also has a strong alignment with environmental, social and governance (ESG) values. Their social value initiatives provide direct benefits to the Ipswich community and working with the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce to expand these positive contributions. Collaboration with the wider project team has also increased DPL Group Ltd’s visibility on site, helping them navigate the project landscape, build relationships with the right stakeholders and prepare more effectively for upcoming assignments. With a well-established local presence, proven expertise, and a forward-thinking approach to ESG, apprenticeships and social value, DPL Group Ltd is playing a vital role in advancing the development of Sizewell C while strengthening the wider Suffolk construction economy. #DPLGroup #Suffolk #Local #SupplyChain #SizewellC

Financial wellbeing is becoming a defining issue for Gen Z — and it’s something I believe employers need to focus on for their early career programmes. As Head of Future Careers, I spend a lot of time thinking about how we support early in career talent and not just in their roles, but in their lives. I recently wrote a piece for the Institute of Student Employers exploring what financial wellbeing really means for Gen Z, and why it needs to be part of every early careers strategy. Drawing on insights from the Deloitte Gen Z & Millennial Survey, Amberjack and Springpod Gen Z career report and Bobby Duffy’s work on generational identity, I looked at how Gen Z economic and career pressures are reshaping expectations around money, work, and wellbeing. Planning is already underway for the class of 2026 for many, and if employers want to attract and retain early in career talent, we need to meet them where they are - with transparency, equity and meaningful financial support.
