However, whilst it is now a year since the FCA published their Occasional Paper on consumer vulnerability, there is still much to do in the financial sector.

In this age of changing behaviour and technology advancement maybe it is time for some fresh thinking in this area.

Investing Women Angels, Scotland’s only female business angel group, held its inaugural Ambition and Growth Conference in Edinburgh in March 2016.

This is a ground-breaking conference that will accelerate the growth and scalability of women led companies in Scotland.

The two-day event also boasts Scotland’s first ever pitch competition dedicated to women entrepreneurs; Accelerate Her.

This was thought more than an exciting two day event. Business of all sizes are increasingly appreciating that supporting more women to set up and succeed in business is an economic priority and closing the gender-gap in enterprise.

The Scotland CAN DO initiative which brings together public, private and third sectors to shape a support network to nurture women-led enterprises is a good example of this recognition

This creative Investing Women event builds on the momentum which is already becoming evident, for example, a growing number of SMEs are led by women, and women represented 35% of early stage entrepreneurs in the UK in 2014.

However, as Jackie Waring, the inspiring founder and CEO of Investing Women( www.investingwomen.co.uk ) frequently states there is much more to do to realise the full potential of Scotland's deep pool of talented women brimming with brilliant ideas.

We were very much energised by the opportunity to play a part in the inaugural Investing Women Ambition and Growth conference that showcased talented business women from across the country who create job opportunities, create wealth and make Scotland a better place to live and work.
