SAP Germany Market Insight The SAP market in Germany remains active, with steady demand across both permanent and freelance roles as companies push forward with S/4HANA transformations and digitalisation projects before Q4. Facts from speaking to the market: -> High demand for freelance SAP Consultants in modules like SD, MM, FI/CO, and EWM, especially for remote projects starting in late August/early September. -> Perm hiring is quieter but focused on long-term strategic roles in HCM, SuccessFactors, and SAP Analytics. -> Clients are prioritising German speaking profiles, though English only roles still appear in multinational setups. -> Rate and salary sensitivity is increasing, contract rates remain stable (€900–€1100/day), but perm offers are more conservative (€90k–€115k). IDOC is dead – long live IDOC! IDOCs are now officially part of SAP Clean Core Extensibility For years, IDocs were seen as “legacy” — something to phase out in the journey toward a Clean Core. Recently it was confirmed (see OSS Note 3578329) that IDocs remain a valid extensibility option under Clean Core (Level B). 👉 What this means for architects & integration leads: IDocs are officially “safe” to use in SAP S/4HANA under Clean Core principles. They complement event- and API-driven patterns - not replace them. The future direction is still loosely coupled, event-driven architectures, but IDocs have their rightful place for many scenarios.
