Short break operator Warner Hotels is set to make a £15.5m investment in Thoresby Hall Hotel, Nottinghamshire. Warner says Thoresby Hall will become a “flagship” Reserve, by Warner Hotel property. The investment will include a “wellness retreat” within the restored historic estate, alongside 221 refurbished rooms, newly-added accommodation and 51 upgraded patios. Jonny Heyes, co-founder of Nell's Pizza, the north west New York-style pizza business, has told Propel the company has completed its three-year plan of developing a regional business and is now set to embark on its next three-year strategy of growing across the north of England and doubling in size. Another week, another warning from Scotland’s hospitality sector. This time, the Scottish Licensed Trade Association has revealed that more than half of pubs, clubs and restaurants think business will get worse this year, with around 14 per cent expecting to close before the end of 2025. It’s a frightening stat for an industry that’s already been through the wringer. Costs keep climbing, customers are spending less and rates relief only goes so far. For many, survival now means cutting staff, shortening hours or shutting the doors altogether. Hospitality is a major employer and a driver of local economies. If we want to keep it alive, government and councils need to act fast, because good intentions won’t pay the bills.

🌯 Zambrero UK appoints franchise development agents Zambrero has named Damian Bennett and Dawn Catherall as franchise development agents for Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire, as the brand targets 100 UK restaurants by 2030. Both bring more than 20 years’ franchising expertise, including long careers with Subway’s Made to Order, and will drive expansion following the launch of Zambrero’s franchise recruitment programme. HOT OFF THE PRESS Taylor Lynn Corporation has been Acquired by Springbank Directors, Marking a New Chapter for Both Industry Leaders Manchester, UK – In a landmark move for the UK events industry, Liz Taylor, founder and CEO of leading event management firm Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC), has announced her decision to step down following the acquisition of the company by Anna-Liisa Evans and Paul Gilmore, directors of the acclaimed floral design and event décor company Springbank. This strategic acquisition brings together two of the industry’s most creative forces under the TLC brand while maintaining the distinct identity and independence of both companies. Founded in 1995, TLC has become synonymous with exceptional event experiences. Liz Taylor, who became sole owner in 2008, has enjoyed a long-standing creative partnership with Anna-Liisa Evans, making this transition a natural evolution for both businesses. As part of the acquisition, Paul Gilmore will take on the role of CEO of TLC, guiding the company through its next chapter.
