🎉 Proud moment for our STAI CDT community! We caught up with Elfia Bezou-Vrakatseli and Andrei-Bogdan Balcau, who both joined the 2024/25 Turing PhD Enrichment Scheme at The Alan Turing Institute and were part of a vibrant cohort of PhD researchers in data science and AI. 🔍 What they worked on: • Elfia focused on AI ethics, transparency and explainability with the Ethics & Responsible Innovation team. • Andrei engaged in digital twinning training sessions and workshops, exploring methods for ensuring the trustworthy development of digital twins and their applications across areas like cardiac modelling and environmental systems. ✨ Highlights: • Elfia helped organise an “Ethics in Action: A World Cafe with the Alan Turing Institute” session at the techUK Digital Ethics Summit 2024. A new international study has shown that artificial intelligence can transform how doctors assess risk and guide treatment for patients with the most common type of heart attack. Research from Professor Thomas F. Lüscher and Dr Florian A.
