A counter-intuitive climate-tech festival, created by the VOYAGERS community. September 19 2025, Harwell Science Campus
About us
Brought to you by the VOYAGERS Climate-Tech community, THE HEAT is a hands-on, practical, mind-expanding, friendship-building, exploratory, curiosity-led, science-based, creative, artistic, participatory, decentralised, experimental, edgy, live, risky, urgent and unpredictable gathering of the talented people working on climate technologies. THE HEAT is not a conference. Don’t expect dull panels or crappy coffee. Climate change is too urgent a problem to waste time. Instead, come to make new friends, to experience science in action, to learn and share your knowledge, to inspire and be inspired. Bring your most engaged and curious festival mindset.

Last week we spent two days at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus for 💊THE FIX (health tech) and 🔥THE HEAT (climate tech). Both were set up more like festivals than traditional conferences, which made them stand out — a mix of keynotes, workshops, and a lot of conversations that felt open and energising. At 💊THE FIX, the focus was on health innovation. Sessions ranged from longevity and diagnostics to the future of the NHS, with plenty of space for founders, clinicians, and investors to challenge each other’s thinking. At 🔥THE HEAT, the spotlight was firmly on climate. Startups were showing everything from sustainable food and green materials to energy storage and clean tech. It was great to see two of our own community members there: Alastair McGinness from Fermtech and Rohan Jindal, Founder of Mistify AI, a Oxford Brookes University alumni receiving support from Brookes Enterprise Support, both running stands and sharing their ventures with a big audience. A proud moment for the Oxford Brookes Enterprise Centre. What stood out across both days was the same thing: innovation isn’t just about the technology, it’s about the people building it and the networks that support them. Events like these give us the chance to learn, connect, and see where our own community fits into the bigger picture. Thanks to VOYAGERS.io for curating two excellent events. We left with plenty of ideas, new connections, and a reminder of how much energy there is in the UK’s health tech and climate tech sectors right now. #THEFIX #THEHEAT #HealthTech #ClimateTech #Innovation #HarwellCampus #StartupEcosystem #OxfordBrookes #EnterpriseCentre

Last week, TerraCycle had the privilege of joining two groundbreaking events in the UK: The Fix and The Heat, two festivals sparking fresh thinking in health-tech and climate-tech. They brought together innovators and change-makers who are rethinking how we approach some of the world’s biggest challenges, like recycling and sustainability. We were proud to share TerraCycle’s mission: Eliminating the Idea of Waste® and keeping rubbish out of landfills and incinerators. Events like these remind us of the power of collaboration in driving meaningful impact. 🌍
