Five Star Restaurant Group, the hospitality company owned by Philip and Kate Ferro, plans to franchise its tavern concept as the couple sets their sights on national expansion, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The Ferros have signed a deal with Franchise Creator, a Miami-based consulting company, to help them franchise the concept that they first established in Chadds Ford Tavern.

They have since used this successfully at other locations, including at Augustine Tavern in Delaware, Main Line Tavern in Paoli, and Kings Tavern in Coatesville.

According to Philip, Franchise Creator approached Five Star several months ago with the opportunity.

The couple decided to move forward, seeing the tavern concept as approachable and an efficient way to grow the brand without taking on the added burden of having to run more restaurants themselves.

The company has also streamlined its business model to make it easier for new locations to launch.

“For the franchisee, it’s easy to replicate now since we’ve done it four times, and we have basically everything in place in terms of how we manage them and operate them,” he said.
