Two buyers were the high bidders for Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Springfield Hospital in a Friday bankruptcy auction.

There are two hospital buyers for the closed Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Springfield Hospital, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Following a Friday bankruptcy auction, Prospect Medical Holdings has agreed to sell the two hospital properties for $13 million, according to Prospect attorneys.

Chariot Allaire Partners successfully bid $10 million for the Crozer-Chester campus in Upland. The site includes a dozen buildings on 65 acres.

The Restorative Health Foundation and Syan Investments successfully bid $3 million for Springfield Hospital, which sits on an 11-acre campus.

No other information on how the properties will be used was available. The sales must still be approved in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

A condition of the sale requires that tax assessments on both properties be reduced to match the proposed sales prices.

If the sale does not go through, Prospect Medical has received court approval to “abandon” the properties. That would remove the properties from the bankruptcy proceedings and would require local taxing authorities to foreclose and sell the hospital sites to collect any unpaid taxes.

James Byrne Jr., an attorney for Springfield Township, objected to the abandonment motion and said the township had not approved any tax assessment change.
