Deputy Sheriff I

This position will protect the judge and courtroom personnel during criminal trials, maintain custody and control of prisoners, and process background checks for firearm permits. Other duties include completing prisoner extraditions and transports, completing detailed and accurate reports or reportable incidents, and performing other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and will complete all state and Sheriff’s Office required certifications and/or qualifications. Candidates should maintain firearms qualification and CPR and EMS provider-level certifications. Candidates should have knowledge of criminal and civil law and training in defensive and security tactics.

Corrections Officer

This position is responsible for providing care, custody, and control of inmates at a county correctional institution or facility, directing inmate activities and maintaining security in cellblocks, housing units, work areas, dining and recreation areas, and observing inmates in any areas needed. Other duties include the ability to work with high-risk populations in confined areas and analyze situations and problems and provide appropriate solutions.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or GED and will be able to pass relevant background checks, clearances, physicals, drug tests, and any other assessments. Candidates should be able to use a personal computer and various software packages, and easily adapt to changes in the work environment. A criminal justice background or being a Department of Corrections Training Academy is preferred.

PT Driver

This position will take care of paratransit services throughout the county by operating a van/bus to transport passengers in a safe and courteous manner according to the provided daily manifest. Duties include preparing for daily run by reporting to Dispatch at the scheduled time, maintaining safe conditions by complying with traffic regulations, assisting passengers requiring aid, and complying with all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates.

The ideal candidate does not need a high school diploma or GED, but it is preferred. While no prior experience is necessary, candidates must be 21 years or older, have knowledge of safe driving practices and demonstrated ability, and be able to understand and adhere to county and department rules, procedures, directions, and funding guidelines. Other requirements include the ability to maintain confidential information, maintain logs and records, be able to work various shifts and days, and have computer skills.
