Product management

Technical Product Specialist

Ljubljana, Slovenia

At Better, we’re delivering digital health solutions that connect data, systems, and people to improve healthcare delivery around the world. Our open platform and suite of composable applications power clinical workflows and data integration for over 30 million patients, placing technical excellence and interoperability at the core of everything we build.

We are seeking a technical specialist with experience in platform design and solution architecture to drive the development and delivery of innovative digital solutions in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in software engineering, architecture, and systems integration, coupled with a strategic mindset and an ability to align technical execution with business and clinical goals. You’ll play a key role in shaping the technical architecture of our platform across customer projects, designing secure and scalable integration and data management solutions. From system architecture and platform dependencies to authentication flows and configuration across implementations, you’ll help ensure our solutions are robust, secure, and future proof. You’ll work closely with standards like openEHR, FHIR, IHE, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect to deliver innovative, composable digital health systems.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about platform thinking, capable of orchestrating multiple technical components into cohesive solutions that address real-world needs. Experience in healthcare is beneficial but not required. What matters is the ability to understand complex domains and translate that understanding into actionable technology strategies.

You’ll also collaborate with the delivery team lead to drive successful project execution, and with the commercial director to support solution scoping and consultancy for new and existing customers. If you’re passionate about building the technical foundation for next-generation healthcare platforms, we’d love to have you on the team!

Skills and expertise you need to excel in this position:

  • 4-6 years of experience in a software engineering, development, solution architect, or technical specialist role.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering platform-based solutions, involving multiple components (e.g., APIs, UI layers, workflow engines, data stores).
  • Strong understanding of integration principles, system interoperability, and how different components fit together in an enterprise ecosystem.
  • Solid grasp of software architecture patterns, including microservices, service-oriented architectures (SOA), and event-driven systems.
  • Working knowledge of security protocols and identity management, such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and/or SAML.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead teams and manage technical discussions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and an appreciation for the importance of data protection and responsible system design.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects, make sound decisions under pressure, and uphold strict ethical standards, particularly around patient data confidentiality.
  • Bonus Points (desired but not required)
    • Familiarity with healthcare standards such as HL7 FHIR, openEHR, and IHE (XDS, XCA), or experience working on solutions in regulated domains such as health or finance.
    • Experience with digital health platforms or national-scale data-sharing systems.
    • Awareness of clinical workflows, EHR systems, or public health data ecosystems.

How will you show up and shape success, one day at a time?

  • Solution Architecture & Security
Design and document solution architecture aligned with the Better Platform and customer needs, managing component dependencies and ensuring robust security models. Define access policies, authentication flows (OAuth, OpenID), RBAC/ABAC models, and ensure GDPR compliance. Identify design risks and recommend improvements for performance and security.
  • Integration & Interoperability
Lead FHIR and openEHR-based integration design with external systems, ensuring semantic interoperability and secure API communication. Collaborate with third-party vendors and customers on API integrations and data transformations.
  • Platform Implementation & Configuration
Drive platform deployment across environments (dev/test/prod), establish configuration governance, and guide best practices for scalable, secure implementation. Provide technical leadership to developers and system administrators.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Consultancy
Serve as a technical advisor to internal teams and customers, conducting workshops and trainings. Translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance and documentation. Align technical design with business goals through close collaboration with project managers.
  • Quality Assurance & Knowledge Management
Support testing processes, user acceptance testing (UAT), and knowledge base development. Document workflows, create test cases, and assist customer service teams with technical investigations and user support materials.
  • Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Contribute to tender responses, promote a collaborative team environment, and drive ongoing improvements in processes, tools, and team practices for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
