绝大多数 Linux 发行版可以完美兼容 Intel 的核芯显卡。不过近年来 Linux 对 Nvidia 和 AMD 的独立显卡支持也已相当完善。如果您希望「减少折腾」，推荐使用 [b]仅搭载核芯显卡[/b] 的笔记本电脑。
至于使用 LiveCD 检测的方式，个人认为可以，但是有局限——「几乎所有」LiveCD 不含 Nvidia 的驱动，也可能不含有「部分无线网卡」的驱动。
