Understanding preventative investment: how to map and measure spend
Overview
Background
Prevention is now central to every conversation about the future of public services, but without a clear picture of current investment, it is difficult to know the scale of change required. This event will launch CIPFA’s new approach to define, map and measure preventative investment, co-produced with partner councils and supported by The Health Foundation. The approach offers a practical way to understand prevention spend across the building blocks of health. Voices from The Health Foundation, CIPFA and partner councils will reflect on why this matters for public financial management and the sustainability of public services and how public sector organisations can use the approach to understand their own prevention spend.
Audience
This event is aimed at public sector finance professionals, senior officers and leaders, public health professionals and central government officials. It will also be of interest to think tanks, the third sector, academics, devolved administrations, audit bodies and commentators on public service reform.
Schedule & Refreshments
The main event will run from 1:30–2:30 pm, followed by an optional 30-minute networking session for those who wish to stay and connect with other attendees. Light refreshments and lunch will be available prior to the event, providing an opportunity to grab a bite and mingle before the discussion begins.
