Debating has been around since the Ancient Greeks first discovered that fighting with words, logic and persuasion led to more of them living more healthily and for longer than they did when fighting physically. There are certain things you can do that will help you to win across the board, no matter which type of debating you are performing; however, in each type of debate there are certain points that will help you to specifically improve your performance within that particular style.

This is the most common form of debate used in competition, and it has also been around the longest.
