PREFACE
Powerful sermon outline for dynamic preachers which contains over 212 detailed sermon outlines was written to offer some invaluable services to professional Pastors, Lay preachers, Elders and all Faithful teachers of God’s Word. It is a book which does not only aim at helping all preachers to preach biblical messages but it also aims at helping all such faithful preachers to get balanced and varied sermons with little effort for the flock of God. Specifically, it was written to do four main things to help preachers.
This book was first and foremost written as a follow up to the book mentioned above. A simple way to prepare and preach sermons from the Bible was written to explain in the simplest possible terms, how biblical sermons can be prepared and preached from the Bible. Consequently, all the classes and types of sermons that can be preached from the Bible are discussed and explained with several practical sermons given as examples.
This book was written as a sequel to, A simple way to Prepare and Preach Sermons from the Bible
because its first aim is to give more examples of all the various classes and types of sermons discussed, which can in turn bring a deeper understanding of what biblical sermons are and how to prepare them. (Getting a copy of this book and reading it thoroughly and carefully will go a long way to help you to understand how to prepare and preach sermons from the Bible and also help you make full use of this book – Powerful Sermon outlines for dynamic Preachers.)
The second major purpose of this book is to offer the support stated above as a faithful companion
of both Pastors and Lay preachers. Every sincere preacher of God’s Word knows it from experience that sometimes because of the pressures of the ministry, it is very difficult to get time in the course of the week to prepare a good and beneficial sermon for the flock of God. This is not negligence of duty but the pressure upon you to do certain things immediately to avert danger and prevent trouble. So before you realize it is already Saturday evening and a new sermon must be ready by the following day which is Sunday morning.
When a Pastor or Lay preacher comes into such a situation, then this is the time this book can be a very present help in time of trouble
. With over 200 ready to preach, pulpit-ready sermons available, you can surely get some help to be able to put some good food on the table for the flock on Sunday morning. You can do this by checking the index to sermons to select a very good sermon or look at the table of contents to select some sermons from the various classes and types of sermons outlined.
Another useful support this book can offer Pastors and Lay preachers as a faithful companion
is the possibility it grants them to preach a sermon series. For instance, they can decide to preach biographical sermons and preach all such sermons in the book. Thereafter, they can jump to all the ethical sermons in the book and preach them. As a third series, they can preach all prophetic sermons in the book to create variation and a good balance during the year. Majority of the sermons in the book are so detailed and long that no preacher can finish preaching them on one Sunday morning. If a preacher does very well, he can finish some of them within 3 to 4 weeks of 45 minutes to 1 hour preaching time every Sunday morning. This explains why it will not take any Pastor less than 10 years to preach all the 212 sermons in this book. So this book is an invaluable preaching companion
to all Pastors and Lay preachers.
All the sermons in this book have been selected and prepared to provide useful teaching material which can be given to the congregation through preaching. The topics selected present useful teaching material on all the important areas of the Christian life and journey starting from salvation to the most advanced level of spiritual maturity. In case a Pastor or Lay preacher wants to use this book as a teaching material, all he should do is to consult the subject index provided at the end of the book to select the topics he wants to offer the teaching on and teach directly from the book instead of preaching the topic as a sermon. Powerful Sermon outlines for dynamic Preachers
can therefore be a great and useful tool in your hands if you are a Pastor, Lay preacher, Bible teacher, Evangelist or Christian worker.
The Word of God is not the monopoly of any Pastor, Church leader, Church or denomination. It is for everybody and it is for all of us whenever and wherever it is faithfully prepared and handled. So the sermons in this book can be used to prepare your own sermons in a way that can best meet the needs of your local congregation. To do this, just decide on what you want to preach on then go through the subject index or the index to the sermons and select the appropriate sermon outlines on the topic or topics chosen.
Next, change the theme or themes used to present the sermons in this book and select ones that are entirely different but suitable to the local needs of your congregation. Finally, use the sermon outlines and their scriptural undergirding as the major and minor divisions of your own sermons. So after first preaching all the 212 sermons ditto ditto
– that is exactly as they are prepared and presented in the book for the first 10 years of getting this book, you can again use it to prepare your own sermons for another 10 years. So this book can serve you as a Pastor, Lay preacher, Elder and Bible teacher for over 20 years with careful planning!
PROPHETIC SERMONS
TEXT: Titus 2:13
THEME: Preparing Well for The Rapture
INTRODUCTION
Believers have a blessed hope – the hope of meeting the Lord Jesus Christ in the air one day to be taken away to be with the Father for ever in what is called the Parousia or the Rapture. The rapture is a certainty; but the number of people who will participate in it remains uncertain because that depends upon a number of factors some of which are going to be discussed in this sermon.
DISCUSSION
PARTICIPANTS IN THE RAPTURE MUST BE SAVED
They must belong to Christ at His coming (1 Corinthians 15:23; Galatians 5:24).
They must be part of the true Church of Christ – the pure and blameless Church. (Ephesians 4:4-6)
PARTICIPANTS IN THE RAPTURE MUST BE SANCTIFIED
They must be found pure and unspotted (1 John 3:2-3).
They must be found sanctified and holy (Revelation 20:4-6).
PARTICIPANTS IN THE RAPTURE MUST BE
SEPARATED
They must be separated from the darkness. (1 John 1:5-6)
They must be separated from the world. (James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17)
They must be found walking in the light. (1 John 1:7; Colossians 2:6)
They must be found walking by the Spirit. (Galatians 5:19-21 with 5:16-17))
CONCLUSION
The Rapture will be partial and selective as the Bible tells us. A man and the wife will be sleeping together. One will be taken and the other left. Two people will be working together in the field. One will be taken and the other left. Will you be part of the rapture or part of the disappointed majority?
TEXT: Matthew 24:28
THEME: The Three Special Events Predicted to Precede the Rapture
INTRODUCTION
There are several signs predicted by the Bible to precede the Parousia or the Rapture. Three of these which have general significance for the world, for Israel, and for the Church are worth noting in this end-time period.
DISCUSSION
SALVATION FOR THE GENTILES IS PREDICTED
The Gospel shall be preached to all Gentile and Jewish nations (Matthew 24:14; Mark 13:10; Romans 11:25).
SALVATION FOR THE JEWS IS PREDICTED
Jewish restoration to the Promised Land was predicted (Ezekiel 37:21; Isaiah 11:11-12; Ezekiel 20:33-34).
SALVATION FOR THE TRUE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS PREDICTED
There will be a great apostasy in the Church (2 Thessalonians 2:3; 1 Timothy 4:1; 2 Timothy 3:1-5)
The result will be the purification of the Church of Christ to make it holy, blameless, and without wrinkles. (Ephesians 5:27)
CONCLUSION
Everything indicates that the time of Christ’s coming is near as all these signs have been fulfilled, and others or are being fulfilled daily in our very eyes. Behold, the Bridegroom cometh.
TEXT: Matthew 24:4-14
THEME: Take Heed That No One Deceives You
INTRODUCTION
Even though nobody knows the exact time of the rapture, the Bible has given us several signs which will presage this great event. Generally, the Bible pictures that period as a time of calamities. This is why we need to take care that we are not deceived. What are some of the specific things that will happen just before the Rapture?
DISCUSSION
IT WILL BE A PERIOD OF RELIGIOUS CALAMITIES (5,9,11)
False messianic claimants will arise (5a) (For many will come in my name).
Deceptive ministers will appear (5b) (… saying I am the Christ, and will deceive many).
Intense persecution of the righteous will arise (a) (They will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you …)
False Prophets will arise (11) (Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many).
IT WILL BE A PERIOD OF SOCIAL CALAMITIES (6-7a, 10)
There will be wars and rumours of wars (6) (And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars).
It will be a time of intra – national warfare (7a) (For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom).
It will be a time of hatred and betrayals (10) (And then … many … will betray one another, and will hate one another.
IT WILL BE A PERIOD OF NATURAL CALAMITIES (7b – 8)
It will witness increased famines, pestilences, and earthquakes (7b) (And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places).
It will witness increased sorrows (8) (All these are the beginning of sorrows).
IT WILL BE A PERIOD OF SPIRITUAL CALAMITIES (12)
It will be a time of increased iniquity and lawlessness (12a) (And because lawlessness will abound …)
It will be a time of increased lukewarmness and falling away (12b). (The love of many will grow cold).
IT WILL ALSO BE A PERIOD OF HOPE AND COMFORT (13-14)
It will be a period of hope, comfort and assurance to Christians who persevere. (13) (But he who endures to the end shall be saved).
It will be a time of hope and comfort to the lost and unsaved. (14) (And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world … and then the end will come).
CONCLUSION
We can err only when we do not know the Word. Now that the Word has shown us what the end will be, it is up to us to take heed that no one deceives us.
TEXT: 1 Peter 4:10 (Revelation 3:11; 2 John 1:8)
THEME: Your Reward at The Bema Judgement
INTRODUCTION
The Bema Judgement will be the judgement of believers. Its main purpose is not to judge believers for their sins but to assess their work after their salvation and reward them accordingly. It is important for all of us to get rewards before Christ when we appear before Him at this judgement. What are the rewards that will be available to us?
DISCUSSION
THE BEMA JUDGEMENT WILL OFFER REWARDS
It will have the great purpose of offering rewards. (1 Corinthians 3:14)
The rewards will be according to our work. (1 Corinthians 3:10,12,13)
THE BEMA JUDGEMENT WILL OFFER CROWNS
The incorruptible crown for mastery of the old nature. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)
The crown of rejoicing for soul winners. (Proverbs 11:30; 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20; Daniel 12:3)
The crown of life for success over trials and temptations. (James 1:2-3; Revelation 2:10)
The crown of glory for faithful preachers and teachers of the Word. (1 Peter 5:2-4; 2 Timothy 4:1-2; Acts 20:26-28)
THE BEMA JUDGEMENT WILL ALSO OFFER LOSS
Lazy Christians will suffer loss at the judgement. (1 Corinthians 3:15).
CONCLUSION
Accepting the Lord and being in the Church is not the end. We need to labour for Christ so that as 2 John 8 says we shall consciously, "look to ourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward!
TEXT: Hebrews 9:28
THEME: Three Essential Facts About the Rapture
INTRODUCTION
The rapture is such an important doctrine that we do not have to be ignorant about any aspect of it. It is our Blessed Hope
so why entertain ignorance about it? There are three essential truths which should never be forgotten about it. Let us discover them together.
DISCUSSION
THE EXPECTATION OF THE RAPTURE IS SOUND
Christ Jesus Himself told us several times to expect it. (Revelation 3:11; 22:7,12,20) (John 14:1-3)
The Apostles of Christ taught us to expect it. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13; Philippians 3:20)
Angels of God have told us to expect it. (Acts 1:9-11)
THE TIME OF THE RAPTURE REMAINS SECRET
There is no time that the rapture cannot take place (Matthew 24:36a) (But of that day and hour no one knows…)
The time of the rapture remains a secret to all except the Father. (Mark 13:32-33)
THE IMMINENCE OF THE RAPTURE IS SURE
Christ Jesus Himself repeatedly said, Behold I come quickly
. (Revelation 3:11; 22:7,12,20)
The Apostles repeatedly taught the imminence of the rapture. (Hebrews 10:37; James 5:8)
The watching passages
repeatedly emphasize the imminence of the rapture. (Romans 13:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8; Luke 12:35-40)
CONCLUSION
The rapture must be expected; the imminence of the event is a certainty; but its exact time remains a secret. The best we can do is to get ready for it every hour!
TEXT: 1 John 2:28
THEME: The Three Mysteries of The Rapture
INTRODUCTION
There are certain events that will surely go with the rapture. These are mysteries because they remain with Christ. This is why we need to abide in Christ as we wait for this event so that when it takes place, we shall not be ashamed. It is important to discuss the three important mysteries surrounding the rapture now.
DISCUSSION
THERE IS THE MYSTERY OF OUR RESURRECTION
We shall be raptured with a new spiritual body (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
We shall be resurrected to receive this new spiritual body (John 11:23-26; John 5:28 29; Matthew 27:52-53).
THERE IS THE MYSTERY OF OUR GLORIFICATION
We shall receive glorified bodies before the rapture itself takes place (1 John 3:2; Philippians 3:20-21; 1 Corinthians 15:51-53).
We shall receive glorified bodies which are spiritual in nature and resemble that of Christ after His resurrection (John 20:19,26: Luke 24:30-31; John 20:15-16; Acts 1:9-11).
THERE IS THE MYSTERY OF OUR TRANSLATION
1. We shall be caught up to meet Christ in the air after our glorification. (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
2. We shall be rewarded at the Bema judgement after our translation. (2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10; 1 Corinthians 3:12-15)
CONCLUSION
The Bible is certain that at the rapture we shall surely be resurrected; we shall surely be glorified; and we shall surely be translated. But are you sure to take part in it?
TEXT: Hebrews 9:27 (Revelation 20:11-15)
THEME: The Great White Throne Judgement (The judgement of sinners).
INTRODUCTION
The Bible has predicted that nobody will escape God’s judgement. So, sinners will receive their judgement at the Great White Throne Judgement. What is this judgement and how will it take place?
DISCUSSION
THE NATURE OF THIS JUDGEMENT
It will be for the wicked. (Psalm 9:17)
It is sure to take place at the end of the age. (Revelation 20:11-15).
Christ Jesus will sit and judge all mankind. (John 5:22,27; Acts 10:40,42; 2 Timothy 4:1)
THE BASIS OF THIS JUDGEMENT
Whether we obeyed our conscience. (Romans 2:15)
Whatever we spoke with our lips. (Matthew 12:36,37)
Whatever we did in secret. (Romans 2:16; Ecclesiastes 12:4)
By our works. (2 Corinthians 11:15; Matthew 16:27)
By what is written in the Book of Life. (Exodus 32:32-33; Psalm 69:28; Philippians 4:3)
By what we saw in nature about God and yet refused to accept Him. (Romans 1:19-20)
THE RESULTS OF THIS JUDGEMENT
Punishment in Hell – the Eternal Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:14-15; Matthew 25:41-46)
CONCLUSION
This without doubt should be one of the most fearful prophecies in the Bible - the thought of meeting Christ in judgement if we refuse to accept Him now to qualify to be raptured. The opportunity is yours today to escape this judgement. Will you not seize it?
TEXT: 2 Peter 3:13
THEME: Is There Truly a Place Called Heaven?
INTRODUCTION
The ultimate goal of the Christian life is that one day we shall all appear before the Lord God in heaven after Christ and the Holy Spirit have come to rapture us. But unfortunately, a lot of Christians have only a hazy picture about heaven with several others maintaining their greatest ignorance in the faith about it. To clear this ignorance, we need to go through this series about heaven.
DISCUSSION
IS HEAVEN REAL?
Yes, we can believe that there is heaven because Christ, the only person who has come from there and gone back after His resurrection says it is real (Matthew 7:21; 28:18-19; John 14:1-3) (Matthew 6:9).
Yes, heaven is real because the Bible teaches that it truly exists as the special place of God’s residence (Hebrews 9:24; Revelation 7:15; Psalm 33:13-14; Isaiah 26:21; 57:15).
IS OUR GOING TO HEAVEN REAL?
Yes, because the God who cannot lie has promised us no less a place than heaven where He Himself dwells (Matthew 5:11-12; Philippians 3:20; 1 Thessalonians 4:17).
IS THE LOCATION OF HEAVEN AT A SPECIFIC PLACE REAL?
Nobody on earth who is a created human being with all our human limitations can locate the exact place where God’s spiritual heaven is because it is a spiritual place of abode.
Spiritual things cannot be seen with the naked eyes.
But because of what the Bible says, we can be sure that heaven is God’s own dwelling place where His holy throne is forever established. (Deuteronomy 26:15; 1 Kings 8:30, 39, 43, 49; Psalm 33:13-14; 1 Kings 22:19; Psalm 11:4; 103:19).
The farthest we can go as human beings is to say that heaven is up (Psalm 139:8; John 6:38).
IS THE BIBLICAL PICTURE OF HEAVEN REAL?
Heaven is a place of glory. (Revelation 21:10-11)
Heaven is a place of beauty and splendour. (Revelation 21:19-21)
Heaven is symmetrical and spacious. (Revelation 21:16) It shall be a 1500mile cube, equal on all sides. (All the major cities of the world put together will only occupy a 300-mile cube!)
Heaven will be spacious enough to
