Dear Diary,
18 September, 2018
12:18 a.m.
With the clock showing 12:18 in the midnight, here, the sleep deprived self of me, Is being nostalgic over an incident that happened 5 years ago. On 18 September 2013, I met this person, not actually the person but through the very belonging of him which I'm not sure was left by mistake or deliberately.
On 17 September 2013, a day like any other , jammed with appointments and patients but with an unusual night-not a paranormal kind of night- but the one where you find yourself in a loop of unusuals. Where things happen that makes you question the definition of normality.
Darkness blanketing the night sky except for twinkling stars, and silence surrounding everywhere. I was in the study, standing next to the window pane feeling the gentle night breeze which tends to calm the soul and wash away all the tiredness. A sweet chirping melody filled the silence of the room. It was not a bird of the night but my phone ringing. I looked at the wall clock and was surprised to see the time- an hour left to midnight.
And actually more surprised at the odd timing, being a psychologist by profession - not that people fancy to meet one at midnight- I prefer daylight.
My secretary Millie called me about a patient who needs me urgently . It was strange because generally no one comes to visit a doctor at such an odd hour as I said no one fancies a psychologist at midnight because then they tend to think themselves as crazy to approach one. Anyway I accepted the appointment and rushed towards the clinic .God knows how serious the situation could be.
It was late night and an awkward silence was filled in the corridors.
When I reached my cabin, I found no one there except for a Diary
lying on my study desk.
Diary might not have booked an appointment. Did it? Where did the patient go?
I called Millie. But she didn't pick up the call. Weird. She's not the kind of girl to play pranks on people and she's seriously not the type to plan a surprise for someone.
I tried again and again. Usually she picks up at the first ring. I found that thing a little strange! I looked around the clinic in case the person wandered off somewhere around but didn't find anyone. My heart was train pounding down the track that time. I looked outside the window and saw a very unusual bird sitting next to the lamp post. Generally, the weather this time was quite serene but today it has an unknown weirdness as if nature is trying to give me indications and I'm unable to decipher it . At last I decided to head back home ignoring the signs and grabbed my keys from the study desk and also took the unknown diary with me.
I closed the doors of my cabin and went towards the parking area, took my car and was off for home.
My Emma was also worried about me, it was the first time I went out so late for an emergency.
I reached home and found Emma sleeping on the couch in the wake of waiting for me to come back. I took her to her room.
I was thinking about all the strange things that happened that day. That was not something usual, and it bothered me a lot. Maybe I was Over Analyzing the situation or maybe not. Suddenly I got reminded about the diary which I found on my desk. I took it out of my bag and looked at it.
It was a beautiful red coloured diary titled "DEAR DIARY".
