Every child deserves to feel safe, cared for and supported – especially in moments of crisis. That’s where out of hours foster carers make a difference.

Out of hours fostering provides emergency care for children and young people who need a safe place due to an unexpected family crisis, a sudden change in circumstances or a safeguarding concern. This could be in the evening, at weekends or overnight.

Warrington Borough Council are looking for compassionate, resilient people who can open their homes and hearts to children and young people, from their community, who need immediate care outside of usual working hours.

You don’t need special qualifications, just patience, understanding and the space and time to offer safety and stability to a child when they need it most.

As an out of hours foster carer, you will be expected to:

  • Have a spare bedroom to dedicate to out of hours fostering.
  • Provide a safe, welcoming home at short notice, often during the night or at weekends, when children or young people need somewhere safe to stay for a few nights, sometimes up to a few weeks.
  • Care for children and young people who may be frightened or upset and information about them may be limited at first.
  • Work with social workers and the team around the child.
  • Undertake all necessary training.

As an out of hours foster carer you will receive:

  • A generous weekly skills payment of £500.
  • Mileage payments.
  • All the equipment you need to help you care for a child.
  • 24/7 support.
  • An extensive programme of training that can be accessed both in person locally and online.

If you have the space, time and love to give to a child in crisis and would like to find out more call 03456460098 or make an enquiry now.
