Hi everyone, We're helping a small business choose the right relational database solution and wanted to get some real-world input.
We’re looking for something reliable, secure, and ideally not too complex to manage with a lean team. Cloud support and scalability would be great too.
I found several top-rated tools in the relational databases category on G2. Has anyone used any of these in a small business context?
-
Amazon RDS: Fully managed and supports engines like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server. Seems like a good pick for teams already using AWS.
-
Amazon Aurora: Optimized for performance and built for the cloud. Compatible with MySQL and PostgreSQL, and offers serverless features.
-
Microsoft SQL Server: A solid choice with strong security and BI features. Might be useful if you’re already using Microsoft products.
-
Google Cloud SQL: Managed MySQL and PostgreSQL databases on GCP. Easy setup and integration if your apps run on Google Cloud.
-
Oracle Database: Enterprise-level performance and features. Curious if smaller teams have found success with their cloud offering.
If you’re running a small business or have set one of these up for a client, what worked best for you? Were there any trade-offs to watch out for?
Would love to hear your take.
