The platform provides a broad array of features, and I find several of them particularly impressive.

Entra Applications allow for seamless integration and management, making it easier to handle various services. Single Sign-On (SSO) simplifies access across different platforms

Privileged Identity Management (PIM) ensures secure and controlled access to important resources.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security for user logins

Password Complexity Management enforces strong password policies to help protect accounts.

What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?

Among the many events and issues I've resolved, one that stands out is when I first configured an MS Entra application and assigned it using Single Sign-On (SSO).

What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?

Creating custom domain and ad connect sync used for sso and sync of user to 0365 and Features such as access reviews and privileged identity management (PIM) support compliance efforts also it is scalable and flexible to use and frequency of using the same matter on the customer requirement. "Microsoft Entra ID Improved Our Security, but Setup and Cost Were Challenges"

What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?

In our organisation we had a scenario where few users were accessing applications from outside network without proper VPN. Earlier it was very hard to track and control this. After moving to Microsoft Entra ID, conditional access made it much easier. We blocked risky sign in and enforced MFA only when users are outside trusted locations. This reduced lot of security alerts and gave us more confidence in user access. I also liked the Single Sign-On feature, because before we had multiple passwords issues, and now users just sign in once to access Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and even third-party apps. What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?

The main challenge I faced is during hybrid setup with our on-premises Active Directory. The sync setup with Azure AD Connect was not very difficult, and some group policies did not reflect properly at first. Also, the admin portal sometimes feels complicated. And also, the cost of P1/P2 licenses is higher compared to basic identity tools, so for smaller organisations it can be a bit heavy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In our organisation the main problem was managing multiple logins and controlling user access securely. People used to maintain separate passwords for different apps, which created confusion and many passwords reset requests. With Entra ID, SSO solved this issue users sign in once and get access to all apps. Another big problem was risky sign in from outside network, and conditional access with MFA helped us block unauthorized access. "Secure Identity Management That Integrates Seamlessly with Microsoft Ecosystems"

What do you like best about Microsoft Entra ID?

My own favorite is how it ties in so naturally to the Microsoft ecosystem — from Teams and SharePoint to Outlook and Azure. With Single Sign-On (SSO), all applications can be accessed securely by users through a single sign-in, and identities can be managed by administrators from a single point.

Conditional Access is probably the most helpful feature. It allows us to implement policies that vary based on location, device, or user risk. This allows us to have strong security without adding more hassle for users. Integration with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is also seamless and reliable.

The most significant benefits are identity management centralization, security, and scalability. It deals with hybrid environments very well — we can both on-premises and cloud identities manage. Besides, features like self-service password reset and group-based access reduce the workload for IT support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?

The interface and terminology can be confusing, especially for users or admins who aren’t deeply familiar with Microsoft environments. It’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for in the portal, and advanced configurations often require PowerShell or Azure knowledge.

Some documentation is hard to follow or is obsolete, especially for setting up more complex integrations with third-party apps. In addition, license limitations restrict the use of valuable features if you're not on higher-tier plans (i.e., Entra ID P1 or P2).

The main negatives are the complexity of the advanced features and the requirement for Microsoft-specific knowledge. It's great for Microsoft-based shops, but if you're in a mixed environment, you might need additional tools or connectors. Additionally, changes can take a while to propagate between services. With Entra ID, we’ve unified our user authentication, reduced reliance on manual provisioning, and enhanced security with tools like MFA and risk-based access. It helps ensure business continuity through the confidence that users have always-secure and purpose-fit access — whether in the office or remote or hybrid work. What do you dislike about Microsoft Entra ID?

There is a great deal to dislike. External Authentication Mechanisms doesn't support primary factors so MSFT forces me to try and go Passwordless "their way" -their implimentation of passkeys is not appropriate for enterprise use, it appears more consumer oriented. SAML integration is done through "federation" which is not granular the way Okta and every other SAML SSO is. In general the product is painful to set up, use and maintain. I haven't even started on the "hybrid" aspects with on Prem AD. It's like a sequel to a bad horror movie. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Microsoft Entra ID solving and how is that benefiting you?

it satisfies our SSO requirements and allows us to integrate our cloud apps into SSO. It also serves as IAM although is a complete and utter mess to manage and maintain.
