CompoundName getSuffix() method in Java with Examples Last Updated : 27 Mar, 2020 Summarize Comments Improve Suggest changes Share Like Article Like Report The getSuffix() method of a javax.naming.CompoundName class is used to get a compound name object whose components consist of a suffix of the components in this compound name. The position from which we need to start extracting the Suffix from this compound name object is passed as a parameter. The returned compound name object and this compound name object share the same syntax. If we make any changes to this compound name that will not affect the name that is returned and vice versa. Syntax: public Name getSuffix(int posn) Parameters: This method accepts posn which is the 0-based index of the component at which to Start. Must be in the range [0, size()]. Return value: This method returns a compound name consisting of the components at indexes in the range [posn, size()). If posn is equal to size(), an empty compound name is returned. Exception: This method throws ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException If posn is outside the specified range. Below programs illustrate the CompoundName.getSuffix() method: Program 1: Java // Java program to demonstrate // CompoundName.getSuffix() import java.util.Properties; import javax.naming.CompoundName; import javax.naming.InvalidNameException; public class GFG { public static void main(String[] args) throws InvalidNameException { // need properties for CompoundName Properties props = new Properties(); props.put("jndi.syntax.separator", "@"); props.put("jndi.syntax.direction", "left_to_right"); // create compound name object CompoundName CompoundName1 = new CompoundName( "1@2@3@4@5@6@7", props); // apply getSuffix() CompoundName newCompoundName = (CompoundName) CompoundName1.getSuffix(3); // print value System.out.println( "New CompoundName Object: " + newCompoundName); } } Output: New CompoundName Object: 4@5@6@7 Program 2: Java // Java program to demonstrate // CompoundName.getSuffix() method import java.util.Properties; import javax.naming.CompoundName; import javax.naming.InvalidNameException; public class GFG { public static void main(String[] args) throws InvalidNameException { // need properties for CompoundName Properties props = new Properties(); props.put("jndi.syntax.separator", "/"); props.put("jndi.syntax.direction", "left_to_right"); // create compound name object CompoundName CompoundName1 = new CompoundName( "c/e/d/v/a/b/z/y/x/f", props); // apply getSuffix() CompoundName newCompoundName = (CompoundName) CompoundName1.getSuffix(8); // print value System.out.println( "New CompoundName Object: " + newCompoundName); } } Output: New CompoundName Object: x/f References: https://docs.oracle.com/javase/10/docs/api/javax/naming/CompoundName.html#getSuffix(int) Comment More infoAdvertise with us Next Article CompositeName getPrefix() method in Java with Examples A AmanSingh2210 Follow Improve Article Tags : Java Java-Functions Practice Tags : Java Similar Reads CompoundName getPrefix() method in Java with Examples The getPrefix() method of a javax.naming.CompoundName class is used to get a compound name object whose components consist of a prefix of the components in this compound name.
