When SEO advice conflicts, I rely on 3 filters: 1. Credibility – Has the source demonstrated results? 2. Evidence – Is the advice backed by data or just opinion? 3. Relevance – Does it align with my audience’s behavior & the content’s intent? The SEO landscape evolves fast—what worked last year might hurt today. So I cross-check with trusted industry updates (Google, Moz, Ahrefs) & lean into strategies that are both user-first & technically sound. Sometimes, the real challenge is the client—chasing vanity metrics instead of what drives real growth. I steer the strategy back to what matters: visibility, engagement, & conversions. How do you cut through the noise when SEO advice clashes? What’s your go-to when the experts don’t agree?

In such a dilemma, it's best to consider how strong & credible your source is... If that checks. The next would be to consider who you're writing to – the audience After all, they matter most

To navigate conflicting SEO advice, first assess the expert's credibility by verifying their credentials and reputation. Then, analyze the advice's alignment with Google's guidelines and its relevance to your project, favoring data-driven, long-term strategies. Seek multiple expert opinions and test approaches when possible. Prioritize user experience, stay updated on SEO best practices, and use your own informed judgment.

When faced with conflicting SEO advice, prioritize sources with proven expertise and a track record of success. Cross-check recommendations against trusted industry standards and data-backed research. Focus on advice that aligns with the target audience and content goals, not just SEO metrics. If necessary, run small tests to see which approach delivers the best results. Trust those who provide clear, strategic reasoning and prioritize long-term content value over quick wins.

You see, when you're bombarded with 5 different strategies from 5 different experts, the temptation is to blend them all into one Franken-copy. Trust me, i know! What helped me was learning to zoom into intent. Not the theory, not the jargon, but the underlying purpose behind each piece of advice. Which means that i get thinking: Is this meant to attract attention? Build authority? Drive a sale? Because you need to understand that If the advice doesn’t align with the intent, it doesn’t make the cut. Simple as that.

The one thing that I have learned about SEO is that it is important to align it with your copywriting efforts to ensure the best results. Therefore, the copywriter and SEO specialist need to sit down and clear out any confusion regarding the guidelines. They need to discuss how the conflicting SEO advice can impact the way the writer is going to craft the web copy. Furthermore, it will also help the writer to find out the strategy behind the SEO advice. If it is going to help in getting better rankings on search engines, then it is worth going for.

Always do your own research. Nobody 100% knows how SEO functions (though there are those who have it does to a fine art) and the criteria for searchable content is constantly changing. The only way to evaluate what works best at a given moment in time is to research the market yourself. Deep-dive diligence in SEO throughout your writing process is an essential part of effective copy... Why entrust that to an outside or single source?
