To stay abreast in the cybersecurity industry , it will do you great good to subscribe to leading journals like IEEE Security & Privacy and the Journal of Cybersecurity. Also, Engage with academic institutions carrying out ground breaking cyber research and attend conferences like RSA and Black Hat. Join professional organizations such as ISSA and (ISC)², and participate in local chapters. Contribute to open-source projects on GitHub and review threat intelligence reports from sources like Mandiant. Pursue advanced education and certifications, and engage in policy discussions. Follow cybersecurity blogs and podcasts like Krebs on Security and Dark Reading. Conduct and publish your own research to share findings with the community.

Staying ahead in the evolving cybersecurity landscape of the Information Systems industry requires a proactive and multi-faceted approach. La cybersécurité est l'un de domaines avec une forte évolution. Evolution des menaces, des acteurs, des stratégies, des logiciels, ... Il est donc important de s'informer régulièrement pour être au courant de changement dans l'écosystème cyber et s'adapter. Cela passe par l'inscription à des news lettres, des forums, des pages et magasines spécialisées traitant de la Cyber Sécurité. C'est mon approche personnelle au quotidien pour rester informer.

Cybersecurity should be the backbone of every organisation, which helps to secure infrastructure and prevent heart attacks to any company. In the light of securing the organisation everyone should embrace fundamentals cybersecurity trainings, research, reading articles, joining conferences and networking with the cybersecurity professionals and experts so as to get first hand information against and cyber threats. Remember if any organisation is been attacked and there is no mechanism of immediate recovery, the whole business can fade away and potential customers will not trust again. Embrace cybersecurity and save yourself from the inevitable consequences.

Attending summits and conferences is one way to stay up to date and in some cases look at sneak peak of what is going to come. These conferences are like 80 hours' worth of information packed in 8-10 hours. So, prepare yourself for these. Go early and be relaxed. Look at all topics for the day. Mark the ones you like the most and attend them, during the other ones visit vendor stalls and learn more about domain you are interested in. Feel comfortable to say no sales pitch. I found couple of great vendors to partner with through these conferences and they changed the way we operate tremendously. Not only that but the knowledge I gained through these conferences has put me a year ahead of my peers in my org.

Staying up to date on cybersecurity requires a multifaceted approach that includes continuing education, monitoring trends, and active community involvement. Participation in professional associations such as ISACA, ISC2, ISO, IAI among others is a very good step. Additionally, opting for certificates and certifications will motivate you to be at the forefront of cybersecurity topics; Attending seminars and entering webinars focused on specific skills or topics are my preference. Another option could be to teach classes in workshops or seminars, being an instructor is a high motivation for constant updating in the cybersecurity game.

In today's dynamic cybersecurity landscape, a strategic and holistic approach is essential to maintain a competitive edge. Continuous learning and awareness are critical, involving staying informed about emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices through industry reports, webinars, and conferences. Ethical integrity forms the bedrock of cybersecurity practice, encompassing a deep understanding of legal and ethical considerations to ensure responsible conduct and mitigate organizational risk. Finally, maintaining a curious and analytical mindset fosters innovation and resilience in tackling cybersecurity challenges.

Knowledge sharing is extremely important. Cyber security is a niche skill and of course the eco system is mostly close knit. Keeping yourself abreast with latest trends and speaking to top leaders not only gives you knowledge, it also gives you a different perspective too. It's all about staying one step ahead.

La Cybersécurité n'est ni un concept figée ni une idéologie. Elle nécessité de s'adapter aux nouvelles menaces, nouvelles stratégies des attaquants et nouvelles failles de sécurité. Beaucoup des attaques informatiques auraient pu être évitées si les systèmes touchés étaient à jour. La mise à jour régulière des équipements et de logiciels est donc une nécessité pour réduire la surface d'attaque et empêcher l'utilisation des failles connues par les attaquants. Elle doit être intégrée dans les process quotidiens, hebdomadaires, mensuels de la gouvernance et tierce maintenance applicative des équipements et des systèmes.

Regular updates are always essential as bad actors are nearly one step ahead of cyber security response teams. But processes and accountability needs to be defined so all perspectives to the updates are accounted and informed to relevant parties. Rigorous testing is essential before production deployment as all organisations has there own pain points that needs to be considered.

Of course updating regularly and patching is extremely important since adversaries look for unpatched vulnerabilities which can be exploited. Also, let's not forget, latest patches sometimes come with enhanced features and improve efficiency of a solution. That's also a plus. And let's not forget, regular patching is a compliance and regulatory requirement too, failing to adhere may be penalized.

Mantener desactualizados tus sistemas es también dejar puertas abiertas a los atacantes quienes no dudarán en aprovecharlas. Es por esto que no sólo hay que invertir en actualizar los sistemas si no en las arquitectura e infraestructuras que los alojan haciendo que permitan una rápida y económica actualización.

To incentivize employees to take training or strengthen areas through certifications is great for everyone involved. It strengthens the employees personally and it strengthens your portfolio. It's a good idea to remember employees that the trainings and certifications are bound to them.

Staff should be trained and made aware of the security risk that some of there actions can lead to and the impacts. Awareness training’s, assessments should be mandatory so the non-technical staff can also understand the impacts and implications of there actions that can result to cyber breach. Training’s like phishing, wifi connection etc should be mandatory

Any organisation is as strong as their weakest link in a cyber security practice and often that weak link is a human or a less informed and an unaware user. Maintaining a security culture today should be a priority for all Cyber Security leaders. You can have the most sophisticated solutions and technology however at the end of the day it's used by a human and if that user is unaware of the threats of lack of governance, an organization is always at risk.

Sharing your knowledge and perspective is really valuable. The experiential aspect of learning with others is extremely powerful and always beats textbook approaches.

Training the staff is very crucial. Always train the staff and keep them updated, that gives you a better chance to succeed. Never think that the staff would leave after training, knowledge increases by sharing, train the backup staff as well.

O foco e o investimento em Inteligência Artificial são admiráveis, mas estão esquecendo um pequeno detalhe: se sua empresa mal consegue ter maturidade em cibersegurança com as tecnologias atuais, imagine a partir do momento que você avançar para a utilização de IA. From my perspective, this proactive approach not only mitigates damage but also enhances overall resilience, allowing your organization to quickly recover and maintain trust with stakeholders.

Organisations should embrace zero trust culture with the perspective to cybersecurity. Industry and organisations specific customisation to standards and practices to develop secure architecture in terms of business, process, data and network architecture.

This is the key, anticipate the situation, prepare a solid response and then test the response thoroughly periodically. This, I believe is the right way to follow.

Planning ahead is extremely important in Cyber Security. It's important to have updated Incident Response plans, well practiced crisis management and business continuity plans and planning also helps organizations to have a proactive approach towards defense. Planning ahead also helps in maintaining compliances and in identification of risks.

Everyone can agree that "Secure Culture" can positively impact an organization's security posture. What some struggle with is how in the journey can they effectively get there. This tends to start with building relationships, such as helping out key influencers in the organization. Having leadership stand by your side as a cheerleader leading by example. followed by incentivizing/gamifying. positive feedback for reporting things etc.
