I believe that in all our planning if we keep the human being the largest stakeholder at the centre. Plan all the steps keeping in mind how the end human being is positively impacted - the issues of sustainability and governance gets automatically impacted and shall evolve supporting the central thought

Fundamental to SDG is leave no one behind. Reporting gender representation is good, but one missing indicator that organisations fails to report on is the inclusion of people with disabilities either as employees in the workplace (contributing to SDG 8), supply chain as customers or suppliers, and or through their community interventions..

No doubt SDG'S are the backbone of sustainable development and Sustainability reporting is also a way to show how much sustainable your organization is covering different aspects of Environment, Social and Governance. So I think 17 SDG'S could be a good source and can provide guidelines in your sustainability report.

Also SDG needs to be milestoned towards 2030, 2040 and 2050 as required for achieving net zero and sustainable growth of the world.

Since my organization belongs to a TIC industry (testing, inspection and certification) so what we can do is the overall practices that we witness during our visits to different organizations we can make a benchmark checksheet for them and implement it to the small and large scale industries starting from our most important goal of Food Security. In summary, strategy should be to collect the data and advise the industries sector to implement such practices that will ultimately help in achieving sustainable development goals.

Local communities have to be part of the solution and they should be involved in decision making. Water is a pillar of healthy ecosystems and communities. With clean, safe, and enough water — waterborne diseases can be avoided while at the same time protecting aquatic ecosystem for the environment. This way, an organization can demonstrate its commitment to SDGs.

Even well educated, high-ranking individuals in government and business don't have every single SDG memorized, nor can they identify them by number alone. I agree but then I think it might get complicated if an organization wants to feature sustainability standards including GRI, IIR, TCFD, etc., While these standards are important — they should not complicate reporting exercise. I still think that SDGs—based sustainability reporting would be credible and acceptable provided reporting organizations make it clear what data and information they report are linked to which of the 17 SDGs. If the focus of organization is to mitigate climate change then it should be clear which climate objectives, targets, indicators and how they collected and analyzed data — this to me would be enough. Unless organizations are obliged to use any of the above standards then they go ahead but it not necessary.

People can post the work of these organizations unknowingly to their personal social media pages — LinkedIn, X formerly twitter, Instagram, this way organizations doing good get free ride and they visibility gets promoted without them knowing.

La Unión Europea en los últimos años ha comenzado un largo camino legislativo en el que se asocia la regulación europea, la sostenibilidad y las finanzas, con el objetivo de poder diferenciar lo que sí es sostenible y qué exigencias debe llevar, de lo que no. De ahí, nacen ahora un grueso de siglas que en ocasiones cuesta diferenciar. En toda esta legislación, los ODS están sumamente presentes. La normativa CSRD: del inglés, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, es la nueva normativa de la UE que sustituye a NFRD. En ella se incluyen las NEIS, Normas Europeas de Información sobre Sostenibilidad. Las NEIS tienen el objetivo de establecer un marco común de presentación de información sostenible y otros aspectos como los criterios ESG.

I want to emphasize the point that there is no sustainability report that is 100% perfect. To manage that fear organizations should have confidence in what they do. Sustainability experts can also be a challenge. People think sustainability reporting is everyone’s cup of tea. It is wrong notion. Sustainability reporting though not rocket science — it still needs trained staff who can pick and analyze relevant material topic data for reporting. To deal with this challenge organizations should train in-house staff, hire or seek reporting consultancy.

Integrating SDG into existing reporting frameworks may require significant adjustments to align with established reporting standards and practices, for example, those outlined in the CSRD.

Overcoming SDG reporting challenges demands rigorous data sourcing, avoiding tokenism, and fostering broad collaborations. It's not just about reporting; it's about genuine progress and positive impact.

As organizations, our sustainability stories should capture these experiences. Because at the end of the day, it's not only about business growth; it's about creating a world we're proud to pass on.

It is important to realize that some of the issues within the SDGs have an overarching effect on all the others, and should be considered more closely. Case in point, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services are so critical to the health and well-being of the people (who are the fulcrum of the development agenda). All the investments being made into quality education, training of youth, STEM, Technology etc would be wasted if people, especially the youth, are not empowered to make responsible choices and decisions regarding their sexual health. Consider the trickle-down effect of unsafe and unplanned sex resulting in teenage pregnancies, school-dropouts, maternal and infant mortality, contraction of STIs, etc.

Based on our alignment assessment, we will prioritize specific SDGs such as SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 9: Industry, innovation, and Infrastructure, etc., and targets where our organization can make a substantial impact. These priorities are integrated into our organizational strategy, as we set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals that align with both the SDGs and our mission as an IT training Institution.

The SDG framework is a great place to begin for organizations and companies to contribute; at the very core across all sectors is the need for greater accessibility to tech, healthcare etc & the inclusion of minority groups or those who need better representation - people with disabilities, people of color, socially disadvantaged; Inclusion & accessibility need to be at the core of any organization's development and growth. Only then can an SDG framework be implemented successfully.
