Reminder to be an Inclusive Leader! "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶?" was the question that kicked off a recent panel hosted by 1,000 Dreams Fund and Christie Garton Some key traits of Inclusive Leaders that pop into my mind: 1. Empathy - Seeking to understand others' experiences/perspectives 2. Humility - Recognizing one's own bias and being open to learning 3. Curiosity - Actively inviting diverse viewpoints without defensiveness Specific to the games industry our projects are very interdisciplinary and so inclusive leadership is a must. Our industry somehow brings together - the most 'left-brained' people (programmers) with - the most 'right-brained' people (artists/designers) and makes it work! In the very best projects we create magic. And, now our industry is starting to support even more diverse stories and storytellers - which of course is key to the work done by 1,000 Dreams in terms of talent development, mentorship and opportunity. Thanks for the panel and it was great to learn from others at the roundtable discussion.

We just wrapped our annual 1,000 Dreams Fund Board of Directors Retreat in Atlanta! Each year, our leaders came together to connect, reflect and dream even bigger for the future of 1,000 Dreams Fund. Together, we’re charting the path forward to expand our impact and continue empowering women and students to achieve their dreams.
