“Health equity benefits all of us.” That’s how Philip M. Alberti, the AAMC Center for Health Justice director, starts every speech and panel discussion. Why? While those who work in health equity understand that health is not a zero-sum game, the message does not always resonate. In his latest piece for The Milbank Quarterly, Alberti reflects on why this gap in understanding persists — and what we can do to close it. It's a call to researchers, advocates, and policymakers to refine our framing, broaden our engagement, and strengthen the coalition needed to create communities where everyone can thrive. Read the full article for four specific actions to make health equity feel relevant and urgent to more people: https://lnkd.in/gW9Z6BhM.

“I had never used AI before, but now I use it almost every day to add or simplify content in my lectures,” says James White, PhD, an assistant professor of medical education and scholarships at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine. That mindset shift is happening in medical schools across the country, as faculty explore how #AI can support everything from writing test questions to designing case studies. They’re building lectures, designing assessments, and even developing custom apps for clinical training. This article offers a fascinating look at how AI coaching is empowering faculty to teach more effectively, one prompt at a time. https://lnkd.in/eVnkqpW4

Streamlined, flexible, and transparent. This is the new AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities™ (VSLO®) system coming this December. Based on user feedback, the VSLO program has modifications to its system that will benefit institutions and applicants. Modifications include: ➡️ Host institutions can make electives visible within an open catalog, increasing transparency and flexibility for Home and Host institutions and giving applicants more information to better develop their away rotation strategies. ➡️ Host institutions can see one application for all dates for that elective versus reviewing multiple applications, streamlining the application review process for Hosts. Check out the new video to learn more about what’s coming this academic year: https://lnkd.in/eJdgyiem

The Voices of Medicine sessions at Learn Serve Lead 2025 amplify perspectives that often go unheard but urgently need to be in the spotlight. This year, we’ll explore issues that cut to the heart of health and trust: ▶️ How where we live shapes our health. ▶️ What it means to remain human in an age of artificial intelligence (AI). ▶️ How communities and health systems respond on the front lines of climate change. ▶️ The experiences of immigrants, refugees, and the providers who care for them. ▶️ The return of vaccine-preventable diseases like measles and the lessons for trust and communication. ▶️ How AI is reshaping the very nature of medical education. These aren’t abstract conversations. They are real stories, lived experiences, and pressing challenges that will stay with you long after San Antonio.
