The landscape of medical education selection is evolving, with many medical schools and residency programs exploring artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their admissions and selection processes. To support this transformation, the AAMC, in collaboration with its Technical Advisory Committee, has developed a toolkit of resources aligned with our Principles for Responsible Use of AI in Medical School and Residency Selection. This #MemorialDay, we celebrate a partnership that strengthens our veterans’ health and well-being: the decades-long collaboration between medical schools and teaching hospitals and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). For 75+ years, dating back to WWII, the VA has been an indispensable part of physician training. In fact, approximately 70% of physicians in the U.S. complete part of their training within VA facilities. This invaluable partnership shapes how our physicians are educated and ensures a high standard of care for our veterans — and all Americans — for decades to come. https://ow.ly/qK3250VXpHl

We’re proud to share the work of the University of Chicago’s IBH program! It not only serves patients on Chicago’s South Side, an area facing health professional workforce shortages, but also equips the next generation of physicians — over 1,000 trainees across internal medicine, pediatrics, med-peds, and psychiatry — with crucial skills in integrated care. Learn more about this AAMC IBH awardee. #WholePersonCare https://ow.ly/R5KX50VU34m

What sets exceptional leaders apart? In academic medicine, the challenges are complex and the pace of change is fast. The institutions that thrive are the ones investing in leadership at every level—not just the top. That’s why accessibility matters. When more people are equipped to lead, we build stronger teams, more resilient cultures, and better outcomes. That’s the thinking behind the AAMC’s CORE Leadership Development portfolio – two unique virtual offerings this summer designed to meet leaders where they are – turning individual growth into organizational advantage. Because leadership should be for everyone. https://ow.ly/6nB950VMi56 #LDatAAMC #LeadershipDevelopment #MedEdLeadership

“My time as a patient was the most important course I took,” says Catherine Lawton, MD, who graduated from Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo this month after surviving a camping accident that left her with several serious injuries in 2019. “It’s a privilege to be there for other people at such a hard time in their lives.” Meet Lawton and others who defied immense odds to earn their MDs. https://ow.ly/5NqL50VWC3n
