🌞 Summer School Report From September 8–12, 2025, the 2nd Summer School on Multimodal Foundation Models and Generative AI took place in Rabat, Morocco, hosted by INPT and IMT Nord Europe, with the support of ACM SIGMM. 🆕 #VQEG Column From May 5–9, 2025, the VQEG – Video Quality Experts Group plenary meeting took place at Meta HQ in Menlo Park, gathering around 150 participants from 26 countries. Key highlights: 🌍 The start of the SOGAI initiative on assessing GenAI-generated content, aiming to standardize subjective testing methodologies and objective metrics. 🔎 Advances from the Immersive Media Group (IMG) towards the ITU-T Rec. P.IXC for evaluating QoE in immersive interactive communication systems. Leadership update: Marta Orduna Cortillas (Nokia XR Lab, Spain) was appointed vice-chair of IMG. 📊 Updates from the SAM group on statistical analysis methods for subjective and objective testing, ensuring robustness and reliability of QoE studies. 🌸 Spring School on #SocialXR From April 7–10, 2025, the 3rd Spring School on Social XR took place in Amsterdam, hosted by CWI’s Distributed and Interactive Systems group. The event welcomed 30 students from diverse disciplines and countries, with support from ACM SIGMM and recognition as an ACM Europe Council Seasonal School. 👩🏫 9 lectures, 3 workshops, 14 international instructors 🌍 Topics: photorealistic avatars, behaviour modelling, AI-driven volumetric video, streaming, rendering, QoE, privacy and security in XR ✨ Open Days, networking, and poster sessions fostered exchange and collaboration The event was organized by Silvia Rossi, Irene Viola, Thomas Röggla, Pablo César (CWI) and Omar Niamut (TNO).
