The The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Energy Efficiency as a Resource in Denver the last few days had a fantastic program. I learned a lot listening to how others are delivering energy efficiency across sectors and funding sources. It was fun being part of a great panel of experts from across the country! This year's Community Heroes Celebration will feature the induction of two Boston trailblazers into the ABCD Hall of Fame: Bob Elias and Karen Holmes Ward. As ABCD's Director of Government and Industrial Relations, Bob Elias was the catalyst and creator of some of ABCD’s most iconic events and programs, including the Community Heroes Celebration, the Seminar Series, Field of Dreams, Hoop Dreams and the ABCD Hall of Fame. Past dinner and seminar speakers include John Glenn, Jesse Jackson, James Baldwin, Marcia Gillespie, Andrew Young, Harry Belafonte and more. Elias' most enduring legacy is his ability to connect with people of all backgrounds and bring them together to make Boston a better place. Karen Holmes Ward is the Director of Public Affairs and Community Services at WCVB Channel 5 as well as host and executive producer of CityLine, the station’s award-winning weekly magazine program which addresses the accomplishments, concerns and issues facing people of color living in Greater Boston. She has interviewed many notables including Oscar winners Regina King, Lupita Nyong’o, Forest Whitaker, Octavia Spencer, Denzel Washington, and Spike Lee. Holmes Ward was part of the team honored with a National Association of Broadcasters' Service to Community in Television Award for WCVB’s community service efforts during and following the Boston Marathon attack. In 2018, she was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Learn more about Bob and Karen at abcdheroes.org.

DAF Day is here! DAFs, or donor advised funds, are a great way for individuals or companies to support the work being done by nonprofits and philanthropic organizations. In fact, DAFs are the fastest-growing form of philanthropy and have been shown to drastically increase support for critical causes. Go to dafday.com for more information and type in "ABCD" on the Give page to support our work. #DAFDay2025 #GivingTogether #Philanthropy

Mention TD Garden and, of course, we think championships and the proud legacies of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, but at ABCD, what comes to mind first is the people. From the remarkable generosity of the #Jacobsfamily to the vision of President Glen Thornborough and SVP @jenmenacompton to the professionals whose skills and compassion made planning and managing our basketball benefit #ABCDHoopDreams flow — and succeed. We are deeply grateful to Courtney DiSano, Clancy Wolf, Kaity Goodwin, Lauren King, Michael Beke, Tina Natale and many more. Thank you all for making this year’s reimagined Hoop Dreams a magical reality. Sharing a few highlights. #Bostonsports #sportsforgood #sportsbenefit #corporatecitizenship #dreambig #bostonyouth

Here's to leaving it all on the court. A huge thank you to everyone who made Hoop Dreams 2025 such an amazing and special event: Bob Ryan, Brad Stevens, and NBC Boston Stations' Abigail Chin for their insight and knowledge, our event committee members Shantell Jeter of You Got It Girl, Kisandra Ayanbeku of Still Got It Athlete, Shardé M. of Wayfair, and Leandro Ruiz of Denterlein, and of course our generous hosts TD Garden. We were also joined this year by three members of the Connecticut Sun WNBA franchise: star forwards Aaliyah Edwards and Aneesah Morrow and President Jennifer Rizzotti. We cannot thank these three enough for making the trip up to Boston and adding their passion and flair to the event! Congratulations to Team SWTHZ - Contrast Therapy Studio for winning this year's competition and to Team Still Got It Athlete for winning the consolation game! We can't wait to see everyone back at TD Garden next year! #ABCDHoopDreams #WNBA #CTSun #BringTheHeat #SportsForGood #NBA #Celtics

Thank you for helping to make this year's Hoop Dreams such an incredible event! We can't wait to see you and You Got It Girl back at TD Garden next year.
Yesterday was National Coaches Day and I had the incredible honor of coaching my You Got It Girl team on the TD Garden floor thanks to Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. and Hoop Dreams. Moments like this remind me why I fell in love with the game in the first place. Basketball has always been more than a sport. It’s been a teacher, a connector, and a pathway to opportunity. Events like Hoop Dreams don’t just raise funds. They raise awareness and bring joy to the community. They help create moments that remind our young people that they belong in spaces like this and that their dreams matter. It’s also so important to me to bring my people, great people—into these spaces. I believe in creating community everywhere I go, and that means showing up together. When I have opportunities like this, I’m intentional about bringing others along, especially the girls from You Got It Girl so they can see what’s possible and feel seen in these moments too. So today, I just want to say thank you, basketball for opening doors for me and for the countless women and girls who continue to find confidence, sisterhood, and purpose through the game. I’m especially grateful that I got to share this experience with my friends and my You Got It Girl girls, the next generation of leaders on and off the court 💛 We can’t wait for next year! #YouGotItGirl #NationalCoachesDay #HoopDreams #ABCD #WomenInSports #Community #BasketballFamily #RepresentationMatters
