The promise of #AgeTech lies in helping older adults live with greater independence, dignity and quality of life. Extended reality is increasingly part of that promise. But as XR solutions move from prototype to regulated medical device, the tradeoffs of consumer hardware become more pronounced. What initially appears cost-effective can introduce long-term operational, regulatory and financial challenges that are difficult to unwind later. In our latest blog, Malik M. Usman of CitrusBits, an AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP enterprise participant, explores the substantive, and sometimes hidden, tradeoffs when companies use XR to test, develop and deploy their AgeTech solutions. Too often, products are designed around assumptions about age rather than real behavior. Yet adults 50+ are among the fastest growing users of mobile apps, digital services, and connected devices. They manage finances, health, communication, and everyday life through technology. The gap isn’t willingness to use tech. It’s whether products are designed with clarity, accessibility, and real world context in mind. That can show up in simple ways, like larger text, clearer navigation, or voice based interaction. What would you add? #AgeTech #InclusiveDesign #Accessibility #Longevity #TechForAll

What does a decade of tech adoption among adults 50+ really look like? A breakdown of AARP’s 2026 Tech Trends Report tells a clear story of steady, meaningful change. Smartphone ownership climbed from 55% to 90 percent. Daily use reached 95 percent. Texting surpassed email as the primary way people connect. And AI adoption nearly doubled in just one year. The data shows how adults 50+ have moved from occasional users to fully engaged participants in a mobile, always connected world. See how the data has changed over time. #AgeTech #LongevityEconomy #TechTrends #AARP #DigitalAdoption #Adults50Plus #AgeTechCollaborative

This year marks the centennial of Black History Month and its theme could not be more timely: health matters of the mind, body, and soul. For generations, Black communities have centered care around connection. Family check-ins, faith communities, and neighbors looking out for one another have long supported well-being. Today, technology is extending that tradition. AARP research shows 82% of Black adults 50+ own a smartphone, 94% use it daily, and nine in ten use technology to stay connected with family and friends. Nearly one in three already use their phones for health-related needs, from communicating with doctors to managing appointments and prescriptions. Technology is not replacing community care, it is reinforcing it. At AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP, we believe innovation is strongest when it reflects how people already live, connect, and care for one another. This Black History Month, we honor the legacy of community care and the innovators helping carry it forward. #BlackHistoryMonth #AgeTech #HealthEquity #LongevityEconomy #HealthyAging

As we close out the month, we’re looking back at one of our favorite moments from #CES2026. The interactive AI “exo-skin” experience developed by Rick Robinson, our VP and GM at the AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP, was a standout. Our team, along with over a thousand attendees, suited up in the virtual exo-skin and explored a playful glimpse of what enhanced mobility and strength could look like in the future. Beyond the fun photos, the experience sparked thoughtful conversations about mobility, longevity, and the role technology can play in supporting better living as we age. We appreciate everyone who visited the booth and engaged with us throughout the week. Every interaction contributed insight, energy, and clarity to the work we’re moving forward together across the #AgeTech ecosystem. #AgeTech #CES2026 #FutureOfAging #AI #Innovation #Longevity #AARP #Collaboration

What if you could measure your brain’s workout the same way you track your steps? Thinkie Inc is making that possible, with a wearable sensor that gives real-time feedback on your prefrontal cortex activity. In trials, consistent users took nearly a decade off their brain age. 🧠 At the intersection of neuroplasticity and wearable tech, Thinkie is reframing what it means to “train your brain.” Using real-time data from near-infrared spectroscopy and an adaptive app experience, this AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP participant startup is helping users not only maintain — but reverse — their brain age. In our latest blog post, we spoke with Nicholas White, one of Thinkie’s co-founders, about the science behind neuroplasticity, the myths of brain training, and why real-time feedback may be the key to healthier cognition as we age. 👉 https://lnkd.in/e4mQGCqq
