Happy 78th Birthday United States Air Force! We are the world's greatest Air Force because of those who have gone before us – particularly those who weren't afraid to break barriers and innovate processes for better operational results. From its inception, the Air Force has excelled at keeping pace with rapid changes in technology and with the demands placed on our five core missions: air superiority, global strike, rapid global mobility, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and command and control. #AirForceBirthday | #USAirForce | #AFResearchLab |

AFRL’s running motto is to “Win the Future” - and the only way we can guarantee that is via the unique expertise and veracity to learn that our interns bring each and every year. 👏 Enter Brian Fischer, a student at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and AFRL intern. 🗣️ His key takeaways from his time with us are that these types of STEM oriented internships put the tools of research directly into students’ hands - putting lectures and theory into practice. The best part? Brian's work is already bridging from the Lab to the field. 👏 He's part of a team that created a device that turns battery power into plug-in alternating current for warfighters in remote environments.⚡ Brian puts it best when summing up his experience with AFRL: “Honestly, it’s expect to do fun things.” 🦾 Check out his full interview above to get a mini-deep dive into the fascinating work he and the team took part in. 👇👇👇 #AFResearchLab | #AFRLInternships | #AFRLInterns | #DoDInterns

🗣️"Flyer Øne isn't about ending the physical — it's about unlocking the full power of digital. Earlier insight into certification means better designs, faster. Physical testing lives on in ever-smarter lifecycle models — proving grounds for future AI." - Dr. Will Roper, CEO of Istari Digital. AFRL's goals to allow better, more agile testing to be conducted to allow more rapid deployment of future aircraft and systems just got a boost thanks to an expansion to the joint Flyer Øne initiative being run alongside Istari Digital. 👏 Learn more about this project and its mission to help "enable the world's first digitally-certified aircraft" via our link in the comments. 👇👇👇 #AFResearchLab | #USAirForce | #IstariDigital | #DigitalTesting | #DigitalEngineering

🗣️ “This test is a clear example of how we work with trusted allies to bring new capabilities into play faster and smarter. We’re not just preparing for tomorrow; we’re shaping it together.” - U.S. Air Force Col. Scott Gunn, 53rd Wing Commander. In partnership with Royal Norwegian Air Force F-35s and personnel, the U.S. Air Force’s 53rd Wing integrated a U.S. B-2 Spirit stealth bomber into a long-range strike scenario employing the Air Force Research Laboratory’s QUICKSINK maritime weapon, demonstrating seamless cooperation and interoperability to defeat a surface vessel in a realistic setting. ✈️ Learn more about this join-effort and what comes next via our link in the comments. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ #AFResearchLab | #B2Spirit | #WintheFuture | #WinTogether

Never Forget. This year marks 24 years since the attacks on September 11, 2001. The significance of the 9/11 attacks has not waned, and we still mourn for those who were lost that day. Patriot Day is marked as a "National Day of Service and Remembrance" to honor the spirit of sacrifice made by first responders, members of the armed forces and community members in the days and years that followed the attacks. #NeverForget | #PatriotDay
