🌎 Last week, #DiscoverAlbany President & CEO Jill Delaney, CDME had the honor of joining an inspiring group of leaders at the UN Sustainable Development Goals Lounge during the UN General Assembly in New York City. A special thank you to David Peacock and Simpleview (a Granicus company) for the opportunity to be part of a session led by Göteborg & Co that highlighted how local communities are driving global progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The discussion explored the role of destinations like Gothenburg in leading cross-sector collaborations, the push for net-zero cultural events such as concerts, and innovations in sustainable fashion and materials. All showcasing how tourism, culture, and community can work together to create meaningful change. The event featured a panel discussion on the FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States coming to the region and the logistical challenges for communities, venues, and meeting professionals who bring these major events to life. Last week, #DiscoverAlbany Director of Marketing, Kathryn Cotter, and Content Manager, Aaron Roddy, attended the 2025 New York State Tourism Excellence Awards & Summit in Visit the Lake George Area! It was inspiring to connect and celebrate the incredible work done by our peers across the state. Our Director of Community Engagement, Maeve McEneny Johnson, spoke during the summit about how Albany County leadership is partnering with Discover Albany to share resources and advocacy efforts around the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. In honor of Albany County’s vital role in the American Revolution, the Albany County Revolutionary War 250th Commission invites individuals and non-profit organizations to apply for small grants of up to $5,000 to support original history projects focused on the county’s cultural or natural history during the Revolutionary era (circa 1775–1789).
