🌎 Last week, #DiscoverAlbany President & CEO Jill Delaney, CDME had the honor of joining an inspiring group of leaders at the UN Sustainable Development Goals Lounge during the UN General Assembly in New York City. A special thank you to David Peacock and Simpleview (a Granicus company) for the opportunity to be part of a session led by Göteborg & Co that highlighted how local communities are driving global progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The discussion explored the role of destinations like Gothenburg in leading cross-sector collaborations, the push for net-zero cultural events such as concerts, and innovations in sustainable fashion and materials. All showcasing how tourism, culture, and community can work together to create meaningful change. We're proud Jill was able to represent Albany in this important global dialogue on sustainability and the future of tourism. #BeHope #UNGA #GoalsLounge #DestinationStewardship #SustainableTourism

Feeding People & Reducing Waste - Discover Albany is proud to share a collaboration with the American Cancer Society, Mazzone Catering and the Albany Capital Center. We joined forces to rescue surplus food from last night's event and deliver it to the Capital Region Rescue Mission—ensuring no good meal went to waste, and nothing ended up in a landfill. This is what community giving back looks like in action: Delicious, high-quality food that would have otherwise gone unused was repurposed to support individuals and families in need. Zero food waste: every bite was used; nothing was discarded. Environmental impact: by recovering food instead of letting it decompose in landfills, we prevented methane emissions and reduced the carbon footprint tied to food production, storage, and disposal. THANK YOU!!! #ittakesavillage
