Earlier this month, the AHN Cancer Institute held its second annual Strike Out Cancer wellness and screening event, bringing nearly 100 community members together for a day of healthy fun at PNC Park. This event is a culmination of our commitment to screening access, patient education, early detection and better outcomes.

In Case You Missed It: A new study authored by AHN and Highmark Health researchers — and published in JAMA Surgery — showed that bariatric surgery offers greater weight loss, fewer side effects, and lower costs over time compared to GLP-1s. AHN Saint Vincent Hospital turned 150! 🎂 And we're spotlighting some amazing team members who've made the SVH community so special!⁣ ⁣ Nicole E. has been part of the SVH for 20 years! She started as a junior volunteer (racking up 500+ hours!), then worked in food and nutrition, the gift shop, supported our nurses, and even did registration while in college. She knows this hospital inside and out!⁣ ⁣ Today, Nicole is an advanced practice provider supervisor. ❤️⁣ ⁣ “Every time I walk into the hospital, I walk past registration. It reminds me of why I’m doing this, and where I came from,” Nicole said. "It reminds me to appreciate every position because I know what an integral part everyone in the health care system plays in every patient experience. After losing her mom to metastatic breast cancer, Morgan scheduled her first mammogram at age 31 and was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. An X-ray tech at the time of her diagnosis, Morgan was inspired to switch modalities and cross-trained in mammography. Now part of our imaging team at AHN West Penn Hospital, Morgan looks to serve as a beacon of hope for other young women facing a similar journey.
