Tonight, audiences fill the new Doris Duke Theatre for the very first time. At the heart of this new theater lies a celebration of movement, space, and connection; it strives to capture the essence of dance, not only as an art form but as a deeply human experience intertwined with the landscape and community. Rising from the ashes of our beloved studio theater lost to fire in 2020, this reimagined space was designed and built by an incredible international dream team, including lead architect Francine Houben of Mecanoo, in partnership with Marvel , theater and acoustic consultants Charcoalblue, and planning partner and construction manager Allegrone Companies. It’s America’s only purpose-built dance theater to open in 2025 and is set to become one of the most technologically advanced dance venues in the world – providing the opportunity for people around the world to experience the works created here. To celebrate, the entire world is invited to the opening night program via livestream. • The New York State Capitol's Eastern Approach is set for a major restoration starting early this summer! As the General and Masonry Contractor, Allegrone Co. will work with NYS Office of General Services to restore the structure's stability and resistance to harsh weather. The Eastern Approach, a grand staircase leading from East Capitol Park to the Capitol's second floor, has been closed for nearly a decade due to structural damage from water infiltration. This extensive renovation will address structural damage caused by water infiltration and deterioration, and include improvements to the north and south promenades, executive drive, and east portico.

  • Allegrone Co. and John G. Waite Associates, Architects PLLC embark on the roof restoration of the Peabody Essex Museum's Yin Yu Tang House. The house features a roof made of soft-fired clay tiles. Over time, the New England climate, with its freeze-thaw cycles, has caused some of these tiles to crack and break. The UK-based manufacturer Dreadnought Tiles took samples of the original to produce approximately 47,200 tiles, identical in color and shape to the 18th century tiles. Work to maintain the historical authenticity of Yin Yu Tang House began earlier this year and is estimated to be completed in 2026. For the latest updates on the exhibit, please visit pem.org

  • Allegrone Co. is the architect and builder of Smith College's new research greenhouse, which will be utilized by the students and faculty of their biology department. The design criteria explored an efficient program that includes grow, utility, clean room, and storage space inside a relatively small footprint. To maximize grow space, the greenhouse takes on a simple form that uses clear glazing and opaque panels that infill the steel frame. To simplify the growing process for the end users, there was strict coordination of all performance specifications, which included all electric heating and evaporative cooling, adjustable grow lighting, irrigation systems, sun and light spill shades, and automatic system operations.

  • A newly restored Dorchester Heights Monument has emerged from the scaffolding! Congratulations to our dedicated masonry team on reaching such a significant milestone! Over the past year, our team has been on-site restoring the Dorchester Heights Monument, a landmark from the American Revolutionary War that marks the decisive victory that drove the British from Boston. The top of the monument was disassembled and transported to the ground. After repairing hundreds of marble pieces and introducing a robust interior structural steel package, each stone was reassembled back in its original position. Our team will continue work to restore the surrounding hardscapes through June 2025.
