Today, September 30th, is Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. This day is dedicated to acknowledging and honoring Indigenous, First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities impacted by residential schools and encourages global reflection on their ongoing effects. In observation, destinations Station Mont Tremblant and Blue Mountain Resort hosted community events where guests could connect with local Indigenous representatives and have meaningful community conversations on truth and reconciliation: - Station Mont Tremblant hosted a special event over the weekend, where community members interacted with various Indigenous communities, sampled traditional products, and experienced the rhythm of the drum. - Blue Mountain Resort hosted a community gathering honoring Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities. After an Awareness Walk through the village, Indigenous speaker Eagle Blackbird and his grandmother, Jenny Blackbird – a Residential School Survivor – shared stories, truths, and teachings at the mountaintop Elevate (Mbin'ge) art installation. Alterra Mountain Company joins Alpine Aerotech, Blue Mountain Resort, CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures, Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, and Station Mont Tremblant in recognizing this important day. Look out for improvements happening across Alterra Mountain Company destinations. Read more below about (some of) the exciting efforts. 🏔️ #CrystalMountain will be replacing the previous high speed chairlift Rainier Express. This first-ever high speed detachable chairlift in Washington state, locally known as REX, will be upgraded with a high speed detachable quad chairlift. 🏔️ #DeerValley is undergoing the largest ski resort expansion in history. This expansion will double the size of Deer Valley with 100 new ski runs, 10 new chairlifts, and 2x the skiing. 🏔️ Last season, #WinterPark began a major, two-year effort to completely rebuild its snowmaking infrastructure from the ground up. 🏔️ Shavers Center, a new skier services facility at the base of #SnowshoeMountain, will be an updated, modern version of the original Shavers Center that served the mountain for nearly 50 years. 🏔️ In an effort to continue to maximize lift efficiency and capacity, a number of destinations, including the American Express Lift at #StrattonResort, the Summit Lift at #Sugarbush, plus upgrades on the Chinook and Green Valley lifts at #CrystalMountain and Morningside at #SteamboatResort will be modernizing their lifts. 👷 Featured here: Crystal Mountain
