Our team in San Diego gathered recently to celebrate our move to a new space! We’re excited for this new facility to deepen our incredible team’s collaboration as we pursue our mission to reverse disease, injury, and the disabilities that occur throughout life. We’re grateful to all the team members who made this move possible.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. David Baltimore, our Lead Independent Director. Dr. Baltimore’s leadership, scientific brilliance, and unwavering commitment to advancing the life sciences have left a lasting mark on both Altos and the scientific community at large. A Nobel laureate and pioneering molecular biologist, Dr. Baltimore’s influence as a generous mentor and trusted advisor will continue to span generations. His visionary guidance was key in shaping Altos’ mission and driving our team to pursue groundbreaking advances in science. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those inspired by his remarkable legacy.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Joan Mannick has joined Altos as our new Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Head of Product Development. In this role, Dr. Mannick will work within our Institute of Medicine to provide medical and scientific leadership focused on translating our research into transformative therapies as we advance our mission to reverse disease. Our Cambridge Institute of Science Director Wolf Reik will be a keynote speaker at the Annual Meeting of the German Association for Aging Research this week. Principal Investigator Diego Acosta-Alvear will speak this week at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Endoplasmic Reticulum event in Melbourne, Florida. Diego will participate in a workshop on preparing for a career in science, and will present on the interconnectivity between IRE1 and the translational machinery.
