Last month, the American Cancer Society Center for Innovation and Cancer Research Training (CICRT) held the 2025 Post-Baccalaureate Annual Meeting. American Cancer Post-Baccalaureate Fellows presented their research through poster presentations, participated in workshops, and built connections with peers and mentors through networking activities. We were honored to have Dr. William Dahut, our Chief Scientific Officer, deliver remarks and share guidance with participants as they continue their training. The ACS Post-Baccalaureate Fellows Program is designed to cultivate early-career researchers and establish a pathway to success for Post-Bacc trainees as they prepare for a career in oncology medicine or research. Research saves lives. Your support makes it possible. When Lexy was diagnosed with breast cancer, she needed Herceptin—a targeted therapy that became essential to her treatment. What she discovered changed everything: the American Cancer Society helped fund the research that made Herceptin possible. "That's why I'm here alive today—because of generous donations," Lexy shares. "When you donate $5, $10, $20, whatever amount, you're making a difference because it's the research." 1 in 8 women will hear the words "you have breast cancer." But ongoing research continues to create breakthrough treatments that save lives every day. As healthcare professionals, we see how research transforms patient outcomes. Every contribution advances the science that gives our patients hope. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let's turn awareness into action. Last month, we celebrated the launch of “Stephamos,” an exclusive, limited-edition Squishmallows plush, at the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge® in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania with Jazwares. As part of the initiative, @Jazwares, LLC donated 2,500 Stephamos Squishmallows to ACS Hope Lodge® locations across the country, where patients and caregivers stay free of charge while receiving treatment away from home. With more than 30 Hope Lodge locations nationwide, ACS provides more than 500,000 nights of free lodging each year, ensuring patients can focus on treatment. Thanks to their generosity, those nights are now a little brighter—and a lot cozier—with Stephamos by their side. And thanks to Jazwares, you can now get your own too! Our ACS PAWS (Pups Assisting with Support) program aims to do just that: improve the lives of children and teens with cancer by expanding access to specially trained facility dogs.
