EmpowHER👏movement👏
Kelly Veney Darnell, COO at American Clean Power Association (ACP), has been at the heart of creating an experience for senior women leaders in cleantech that is less like a conference — and more like a movement. ⚡️ I went live with Kelly today to talk about how intentional planning shaped EmpowHER: 🗣️ “We created opportunities where women could come together — even those who are introverted — through exercises at lunches and breakfasts. It’s much harder if you’re shy, but this made it easier for everyone to connect and have real conversations.” She also hopes attendees leave with something deeper than networking: 🗣️ “Because of where we are in the industry, we’re hoping to give them resilience. Even though we’re facing headwinds, the truth is clean energy will continue to be built — and we have to keep everyone motivated and supported so we can all get through this together.” From intentional spaces for connection to a shared sense of purpose, Kelly is helping ensure EmpowHER strengthens not only women’s networks, but also their staying power in clean energy leadership. Proud to share this space with so many incredible women this week, including Theresa Eaton, Princess Fuller, Ann Anthony at Oberon Fuels, Amanda K. at Leeward Renewable Energy, Charity Pennock at North Street Group, Prayalini (Pri) Sathanantham, at Lianas Collective, Virginia "Ginny" Clarke, Loraine Farberg at Spearmint Energy, Zoë Gamble at CleanChoice Energy, Melanie C. Kelly at Pivot Energy, Kristina Lund at Pattern Energy, Rachel Paisley, Laura Schepis, Andrea Steiner, Dawn Thorpe at Sparrow Energy Services, & Rachel B. Williams at Tetra Tech. Huge thanks to American Clean Power Association (ACP), Program Co-Chairs Kelly Speakes-Backman & Stephanie Smith, and sponsors — Array Technologies, RWE, Vestas, and First Solar — for making this inspiring event possible. If you're expanding your senior leadership team—or exploring your next career step—I’d be happy to connect with you. Senior level openings are in the comments. #acpempowher25 #cleantech #cleanenergy #womeninenergy #solarpower #solarenergy #cleanpower #greenenergy #renewables #renewableenergy

"It's incredibly important that we raise each other up in leadership position, and we want to be a part of that." Well said by Kelly Speakes-Backman.
Kelly Speakes-Backman, EVP of Public Affairs at Invenergy, brought her trademark energy and candor to EmpowHER in Charlotte this week — serving as Program Co-Chair alongside Stephanie Smith of Eolian. ⚡️ When we spoke, Kelly shared why she committed to helping launch this new executive-level women’s conference: 🗣️ “It’s critically important that we have diverse women — we are part of that diversity — and that we have our voices heard, raising each other up into leadership positions. I want to be a part of that.” She also hopes attendees leave EmpowHER with something intangible yet powerful: 🗣️ “Ground yourself here, and take that grounding back — maybe not newfound, but reinvigorated. Take some swagger back to the office and tell someone what you think. That’s important.” Kelly is one of many remarkable senior women leaders featured at EmpowHER this year, alongside: Theresa Eaton, Princess Fuller, Ann Anthony at Oberon Fuels, Kelly Veney Darnell, Amanda K. at Leeward Renewable Energy, Charity Pennock at North Street Group, Prayalini (Pri) Sathanantham, at Lianas Collective, Virginia "Ginny" Clarke, Loraine Farberg at Spearmint Energy, Zoë Gamble at CleanChoice Energy, Melanie C. American Clean Power Association (ACP) reposted this
Feeling grateful and energized after participating in the Time Management Hacks for Busy Leaders panel at EmpowHER, an inspiring conference put on by American Clean Power Association (ACP). This session delivered practical, high-efficiency strategies to help leaders prioritize what truly matters, set healthy boundaries, and take back control of their time so they can lead with clarity, focus, and purpose. ACP along with the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and Advanced Energy United, has submitted a joint rehearing request to urge the Department of Energy to reevaluate their recent protocol, "Report on Evaluating U.S. Grid Reliability and Security.” This protocol relies on inaccurate science, biased data analysis, and a doomsday scenario to undercut the credibility of certain technologies during a time of soaring demand across the country. We are urging DOE to reevaluate and enable those charged with securing and future-proofing our grid to meet the moment with every available resource. https://bit.ly/3J7OIZI

“It’s so important that we continue to create space for women to come together, to be frustrated and to laugh,” said Doseke Akporiaye in one of this morning’s first breakout sessions at #ACPEmpowHER25. This is not just a moment; it’s a movement. We are back all day today, and panelists got real in this morning’s “Innovation Through Diversity: Leveraging Different Perspectives,” exploring the proven value new voices bring to business interests. “Diversity challenges the assumptions. Having a different angle gives you chance to say, maybe what we’ve been doing isn’t working,” said program co-chair Kelly Speakes-Backman ACP CCO Artealia Gilliard echoed that sentiment, “The upside of not fitting in is that you don’t blend in.” See what’s in store for the rest of the week: https://bit.ly/40Ab2RT
