I love my job every day, but earlier this week I had one of those days where I realize just how lucky I am to get to lead this extraordinary company. I started with a visit to the main office of Amphenol’s Andrew team in Richardson, Texas. This amazing organization led by Farid Firouzbakht is a true leader in antenna and interconnect technology for next generation wireless networks. Thanks so much to the entire global Andrew team for embracing our company since joining the Amphenol family in Q1! Next, I visited our great customer Lockheed, where I had the rare opportunity to visit the Ft. Worth F-35 fighter jet production line. We are a truly proud partner in making the Joint Strike Fighter one of the world’s finest flying machines! Finally, I finished the day at the retirement celebration for one of my dearest friends in the electronics industry, Glenn Smith. Glenn, who is retiring as CEO of Mouser Electronics after more than 52 (!!!!) years in the company, is a lion of our industry, and more importantly just one of the nicest guys I have ever met. All the best for your retirement, Glenn! And to Jeff Newell, who is taking the reins from Glenn, best wishes to you and your team as you write the next chapter in the storied history of Mouser. As a last bonus, we were excited that our very own Alexis DiPlatzi was recognized with Mouser’s Best in Class award that evening. Congratulations Alexis! That was indeed a great day.
