🧠 Razor-sharp thinkers, creative programmers, space experts and defence innovators gathered this weekend at the Europe-wide EUDIS Defence #Hackathon 2025. 🛰️ Their missions for this 72-hours-event: takle collaborative real-world challenges in the fields of space and defence. And #ArianeGroup presents participants with a particularly demanding sub-challenge! 💪🏼 What is this special challenge about? Robustness and Reliability of SSA Data! 🔹 Background: A reliable space situational awareness (SSA) relies on the quality of the underlying data and data sources. Yet, SSA data vary widely in terms of accuracy, timeliness, and availability. Observations may be faulty, inaccurate, or even contradictory—especially when dealing with small objects or highly dynamic scenarios. 🔹 The number of objects in orbit, including satellites and debris, is increasing massively. In this context, mapping, cataloguing and identifying these objects and predicting their trajectories are major challenges for civil and defence sectors. To respond to this vital need, ArianeGroup has established its Helix space surveillance service. 🔹 The core challenge lies in assessing the trustworthiness of different data sources, making uncertainties transparent, and creating resilient situational awareness even under difficult conditions. These are its last 800 metres for the central core on Earth before our #Ariane6 launches into space on 4 November – and it has covered these final metres safely and quickly! ⏱️ The central core and the launcher's two boosters were transported from the Launcher Assembly Building (BAL) and the Booster Storage Building (BSB) to its launch pad (ELA-4) at the Guiana Space Centre in just one day, rather than the usual three. The details of this race to the stars’: Step 1: The team of #RocketMakers, European Space Agency - ESA and CNES, transported the central core on four Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). Step 2: The operation continued with the installation of the central core on the launch pad, with choreographed movements by two AGVs and a crane equipped with a lifting beam, raising the central core from the horizontal to the vertical position and placing it on the launch table. Step 3: The launcher’s two boosters were transported vertically thanks two specially designed trucks for a 20-kilometer journey. They were placed on the launch table on either side of the central core, thus making up the Ariane 62 (two booster configuration). What’s next? 👉 Next up is the assembly of the central core to the boosters, and the connection of the fluid and mechanical systems. 📅 On 4 November 2025, at 6:03 p.m. local time (9:03 p.m. UTC, 10:03 p.m. CET), #Ariane6 will lift off from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana 🛰 The #VA265 mission, Arianespace’s third commercial flight, will place Sentinel-1D into Sun-synchronous Orbit on behalf of the European Commission, under a contract with the European Space Agency. 🚀 Stay tuned for more updates from the Ariane 6 Task Force ArianeGroup, ESA, CNES and Arianespace. #RocketMakers #SpaceIndustry #WorkInSpace #VA265 📷 2025 ESA-CNES-ARIANESPACE-ArianeGroup / Optique vidéo du CSG - S. Rocket science moves... mountains of waste! 🧪 Some of ArianeGroup's brightest scientists and engineers, in partnership with Danish start-up Aquarden Technologies, have put their heads together and developed an innovative and sustainable process for the destruction of hazardous waste. The name: ELIXIR™! 💧 What makes it special? Powered by SuperOx® technology, the process leverages the properties of supercritical water. Supercritical? Besides solid, liquid and gaseous water can reach a ‘fourth state’ – the supercritical state. At 220 bar and 374 °C, water remains liquid, but its density is ten times lower – and it becomes a solvent for organic substances. This allows it to break down waste to the atomic level. 🚮 From PFAS-contaminated materials and propellants to pesticides and toxic warfare agents: ELIXIR™ offers total destruction of the waste, while guaranteeing optimized environmental performance. 📢 Tailored to the needs of customers: With ELIXIR™ #ArianeGroup is helping companies in the industry of #WasteManagement and #CircularEconomy as well as municipalities who want to reduce their ecological impact. ❗️ Good to know: ArianeGroup offers an end-to-end service! From laboratory analysis of the substances to their treatment in our own units, or through installation of facilities on customer sites. ↪️ Learn more about the details of the revolutionary process in our website: https://lnkd.in/exv7knQw #IndustrialWaste #Pollutec #Innovation #RocketMakers #WasteManagement #Sustainability #HazardousWaste
