We Are Their Voice.

About us

The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the first animal welfare organization established in North America and serves as the nation’s leading voice for animals. The organization’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. The ASPCA provides local and national leadership in three key areas: protecting and rescuing animals from crisis, assisting animals in communities and advancing legal protection for animals. The ASPCA was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a full-service animal hospital, spay/neuter clinic, rehabilitation center for canine victims of cruelty, kitten nursery and adoption facility. In addition, the ASPCA announced a groundbreaking anti-cruelty partnership with the New York Police Department in 2013, which has resulted in a record-breaking number of arrests and animals’ lives saved. The ASPCA also operates programs and services that extend nationwide, including a Field Investigation and Response team that rescues animal victims of natural and man-made disasters, a fully-subsidized spay/neuter clinic in Los Angeles, a Behavioral Rehabilitation Center for fearful, under-socialized dogs, and a 24-hour, 365-day Animal Poison Control Center that provides pet owners and veterinarians with live, on-call assistance related to toxic products and substances. In 2015, the ASPCA acquired Humane Alliance, the nation’s leading training and education organization focusing on high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter. The ASPCA is a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supported by more than 2 million animal advocates across the country.

Training with her is also a ball, she's super smart and not afraid to show it off! 🐶 Lala is hoping you'll fall in lo-love with her! She's great at making new friends wherever she goes, human or canine. Offer her some special treats and Lala will be your new shadow. She's ready for all the gentle head pets you can offer. 40+ Belgian Malinois-Mixes Rescued From NYC Apartment 🐕 In early May, the ASPCA, in coordination with Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), rescued more than 40 Belgian Malinois-mixes from inside a Queens apartment. The dogs, ranging from young puppies to fully-grown adults, had allegedly never been outside before their rescue, and some were even discovered inside closets and cupboards with no access to fresh air or sunlight. Many of the dogs transferred to ACC's care have already been placed with shelter and rescue partners, and the remaining dogs are receiving much-needed medical and behavioral care from our specialists. An arrest has been made on charges of cruelty to animals, and in addition to providing ongoing care for several of the dogs, our teams are also supporting the NYPD and Queens DA's Office in their prosecution of this case. We're grateful for the strong collaborative efforts it took to get these dogs to safety. 🧡 If you'd like to learn more about the rescue and our continued care for these dogs, click the link below. https://bit.ly/3FjYgzh #ASPCA #ACC #BelgianMalinois

We're still riding high after the ASPCA Right Horse Program 🐴 hosted our LARGEST equine adoption event to date! 🥳 We teamed up with six #RightHorse partners to have one massive, equine-filled weekend at Equine Affaire, an event dedicated to bringing awareness to equine adoption, horse riding and showmanship, training clinics and more. We sponsored stalls for our partners to fill with 33 total adoptable horses and donkeys, our biggest adoptables group yet! Thousands of horse lovers visited our adoption barn, and by the end of the weekend... ALL 33 equines had an adopter from the event or had a completed application 👏 Our barn alleyways were a sea of orange "adopted" signs, big smiles and even a few tears. Events like Equine Affaire show just how special equine adoption can be. Our goal is to make adopting your heart horse, donkey or mule just as popular as cat and dog adoption. Shout out to NestFresh Eggs and Kipster, who put the U.S. on the board. While progress is underway, the U.S. egg industry still has a lot of catching up to do to avoid the unnecessary routine culling of male chicks. Who will be next to take the step forward?

Innovate Animal Ag's 2025 In-Ovo Sexing and Market Penetration and Forecast Report: https://lnkd.in/gEteUY97 Key Findings: 🔶 28% of the EU’s 393 million hen flock was sexed with in-ovo technology—an 8-point increase in one year. 🔶 Since 2022, 175 million male embryos have been removed before hatching. 🔶 EU adoption has compounded at 147% over the last four years, outpacing the early scale-up curves of LED lighting, iPhones, color TV, internet, AC, and home electricity. 🔶 In-ovo sexing is just beginning its rollout in the US, and currently represents less than 1% of the US’ 310 million head commercial layer flock. In Norway, in-ovo sexing has hit a 20-25% penetration. 🔶 The global penetration of in-ovo sexing is expected to continue its sharp growth in the next few years, led by rapid expansion in the US, continued strength in Europe, and forecasted penetration into greenfield markets like Australia, Canada, UK, and Brazil. 🐴Horse Rescue: Nearly 90 Horses Now Safe 🧡 After almost four months of legal proceedings, we are finally able to share this incredible equine story. We assisted The Humane Society of Western Montana and the Madison County Sheriff's Office with the extended care of nearly 90 Morgan horses from a Montana property. These horses were seized as part of an alleged animal cruelty investigation and appeared to be underweight and suffering from untreated medical injuries, painful hoof issues and other conditions. Their recovery has been truly remarkable, with dozens of horses now in loving homes, and we're proud to have played a part in their healing journey. A special thank you goes to our partners at #Evercare Bradshaw Home, who have graciously offered to match donations to support our lifesaving work. We're grateful for your commitment to animal welfare! ❗NEW RESEARCH ALERT❗ Through our partnership with the New York City Police Department, we recently analyzed NYC animal cruelty cases from 2013-2022, supporting over 2.7K suspected cruelty investigations across 77 NYPD precincts. We found that: ❗ 80%+ of reported cases involved dogs, and those dogs were most often suspected to be victims of neglect, hoarding or abandonment. ❗ Cats, although making up 43% of the U.S. pet population, only made up 15% of NYC suspected animal cruelty cases, suggesting that cat cruelty may be underreported and minimized. Since partnering with the NYPD, we have trained 30K+ officers, provided legal support and more! The NYPD also created its Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad, which investigates crimes across the five boroughs. It is clear our work is critical to the animals in New York, and we are proud to continue this lifesaving partnership. Together, we can continue to protect animals. For #NationalWildfireAwareness Month, we wanted to highlight the special responders who are passionate about helping animals and communities in crisis. When disaster strikes—like the devastating wildfires in LA—our NFR team works closely with local agencies and shelter partners and is prepared to leave at a moment's notice when law enforcement requests help. During the LA wildfires, the team was actively assisting with animal search-and-rescue, daily shelter support and care of displaced pets, disaster management guidance, supply distribution and much more for thousands of impacted pets and their owners. In 2024, our team deployed over 25 times to respond to disaster, crisis and cruelty situations. Their teamwork helped over 43K animals AND provided more than 2 MILLION meals for pets! This commitment is critical to our mission and makes a difference in countless animals' lives, as well as impacting members of the local community.
