With less than three months remaining until the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is fully implemented, none of the Energy Community’s contracting parties has yet qualified for an exemption in the electricity segment, according to the 2025 CBAM Readiness Tracker. However, the Energy Community’s report suggests that efforts to meet the are gaining momentum, with Serbia, Moldova, North Macedonia, and Montenegro leading the way to market coupling with the EU, and almost all contracting parties planning to introduce carbon pricing. The rollout of monitoring, reporting, and verification systems across the region is laying the groundwork for implementation and demonstrates growing readiness and credibility, even as timelines remain tight and challenges persist,” Adam Cwetsch, Head of the Green Deal Unit at the Energy Community Secretariat, told Balkan Green Energy News. https://lnkd.in/eMp9KHd4

Balkan Green Energy News reposted this
I just spent three amazing days at the beautiful Lustica Bay in Montenegro for the EU-Montenegro investment conference titled "Smart Growth, Green Future: Accelerating Investment in Montenegro." This conference comes at the time of intensification of Montenegro's EU accession process, which is expected to culminate in 2028, when this Adriatic coastal country is envisaged to join the Union as its 28th member. The energy sector of the country, led by Minister Admir Sahmanovic, is currently a hot spot in the Western Balkans, attracting investors from around the world. A total of 14 cooperation projects between Montenegrin entities and investors have been initiated, covering investments in wind farms, solar PV plants (including a floating one announced by Eric Scotto of Akuo), energy storage, hydro, and grids. Minister Sahmanovic also announced the second line of the submarine cable connecting Montenegro and Italy, expected to be completed by 2031. It is always great to meet dear friends, partners and clients. Congratulations to Maja Turkovic and Dimitar Enchev of CWP Global , Eric Scotto and Emil Bakic, of Akuo, Daniel Calderon and Maja Maćić of Alcazar Energy Partners, Borislav Kostadinov of GGF - Green for Growth Fund, Ivan Bulatovic of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, Nemanja Mikać of ElevenEs, Mirjana Kojic of Montenegrin Investment Agency, SS&A Power Group, EDF, wind fisher for the agreements signed in Montenegro, as well as those concluded the previous day at the Tirana investment conference. Congratulations also to the European Commission, the Government of Montenegro and its Prime Minister Milojko Mickey Spajic, and Montenegrin Investment Agency for the excellent organization of the conference!
