The 18th Annual Community Service Day brought kuleana (responsibility) and lokahi (unity) to life. This year, our Bankoh Blue Crew joined The Institute for Human Servies at Kahauiki Village, a community that supports formerly houseless families and kupuna with long-term housing and onsite programs. Our team took on tasks like painting murals designed by local artist Kaelyn Okuhata, cleaning windows, picking up trash, and refreshing common areas—small acts that contribute to a greater sense of home. Mahalo to all who participated and helped make this day meaningful.

Recently, teammates from across the organization came together for a Leadership Kākou discussion with cultural ambassador Kumu Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu. The inspiring session explored our individual and collective kūlana (roles) and kuleana (responsibilities) in leadership. Kumu Hina’s powerful message—rooted in Native Hawaiian, māhū, and woman experiences—reminded us to lead with integrity, compassion, and cultural awareness. Mahalo nui loa e Kumu Hina for sharing your ‘ike and inspiring us all. 💙 #Leadership #KumuHina #HawaiianCouncil #NāŌiwiAloha #RainBOH #WomenInspired

It’s #HawaiianHistoryMonth! This year, we’re honoring the legacy of one of Hawaii’s most influential figures: Queen Ka‘ahumanu. From boldly challenging tradition to ushering in a new era of political and cultural change, her influence goes beyond history books; it has shaped the very foundations of the Hawaii we know today. Starting on September 30, 2025, the federal government will no longer send paper checks for benefit payments. That means if you or a member of your ohana receives benefit payments from the Social Security Administration (SSA)—such as Social Security Retirement, Supplemental Income, Disability or Old Age insurance payment or benefit payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)—you’ll need to sign up for electronic payments before the deadline.
