Meet Corey — a second-year apprentice who took a different road to the trades. After graduating college with a degree in sport management and working as a recreation coordinator, Corey realized he wanted something more hands-on, at a place he could grow. Two and a half years later, he’s finishing off a $3 million project and leading other apprentices on site. That’s what happens when you bring drive, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. In Florida, one of our Barts Electric crews decided to do something special this October. With permission from our Safety Directors, they swapped their usual safety vests for bright pink ones—sewing on ribbons and adding custom stickers to their vests and hard hats—all in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer has touched the lives of several on this crew, and they wanted to show their support in a way that reflects both their hearts and their hard work. Their gesture has been so inspiring that even crew members from other organizations on the job site have joined in. Less than a year ago, Colton joined Barts Electric, bringing experience from the Army Reserves, welding, and underground construction. Within months, he was entrusted to lead small excavation crews—digging into prints, setting light poles, and building the foundation for what’s above the ground. What stood out to him most wasn’t just the work. It was the way Barts makes space for growth—how leaders show up, listen, and remind everyone that if you want to move up, all you have to do is ask. Colton’s goal is to become the best electrician he can be and someday run work as a foreman or project manager here.
